Congratulations. Drupal was officially accepted to participate in Google Summer of Code 2019. Information for both students and mentors below.

Students - follow the 12 steps below and read required documentation. This will ensure any student can get started on their own.

Google Summer of Code 2019 Application Starts NOW

Google is now accepting applications for Google Summer of Code 2019 and Drupal has applied. Our initial application is complete, but the most important piece needs work...project idea list @ https://groups.drupal.org/node/534703

Call for mentors and/or people who have project ideas. If you have an idea for a GSoC project, please add it to our wiki. Google will review our application and announce accepted organizations February 26th 2019. Again, our current need is adding project ideas and finding mentors. A quality project idea list is top criteria for being accepted into GSoC.

Google Code-In 2017 Announcement!

"We are excited to announce the 8th consecutive year of the Google Code-in (GCI) contest! Students ages 13 through 17 from around the world can learn about open source development working on real open source projects, with mentorship from active developers. GCI begins on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 and runs for seven weeks through to Wednesday, January 17, 2018." - Google Open Source Team

Ready, Set, Code - GSoC 2017 starts now!

Did you know Drupal was accepted into Google Summer of Code 2017 and that Drupal selected 8 projects? In other words, Google is funding 8 people to contribute to Drupal for 10 weeks worth ~$40,000 USD (thank you Google!). Congratulations to selected students who collectively became one of the top 20 contributing organizations on drupal.org (list @ https://www.drupal.org/organizations). Proud to note that all GSoC 2017 students have already become core contributors!

Drupal Accepting GSoC 2017 Students - Call for Mentors!

Drupal is officially accepted into Google Summer of Code 2017 and is currently accepting student proposals. Students are encouraged to request proposal reviews on IRC in #drupal-google at Freenode.

Calling all mentors! Even if you don't have an idea or elite coder skills, you can still help. Drupal prefers to accept a small amount of projects with as many mentors per project as possible. If you're interested participating, contact me via d.o or find us on IRC. We're more than happy to team you up with potential students who will continue pushing Drupal 8 to the next level.

Google Summer of Code 2016 - Selected Projects

Did you know Drupal was accepted into Google Summer of Code 2016 and that 11 Drupal projects were accepted? In other words, Google is funding 11 people to contribute to Drupal for 10 weeks worth a total of $60,500 USD (thank you Google!). Congratulations to selected students who are collectively credited on more than 100 issues fixed in the past 3 months on drupal.org. Coding starts May 23rd and ends August 23rd.

How to find a local Drupal tutor

Hi, I posted on a few freelance sites and also on the Drupal job board but I have been advised to post in the Drupal LA group because I would ideally like to find someone in Los Angeles to meet with me in person. I don't see a great place to categorize what I am looking for, does anyone have suggestions on how I could find a drupal tutor to work with me a few hours a week?
