Ok ok.. last one of the day. I heard through the grape vine, that some of you still haven't seen or reviewed my session from Drupalcon Munich. This. Can. Not. Be! ;)

I had a really good time presenting with Jakob Persson of NodeOne (wunderkrout), and Mattias Axelsson of Happiness in Stockholm in Munich where we chose to address the many issues around estimation. I think it turned into a "what not to do" more than anything else, and it is FULL of our experiences and tips on how to, and how not to estimate your drupal projects.

Please watch, learn and then give feedback about how we can do better, or alternatively, how fricken awesome we were. We like hearing that too.

Thanks y'all*.

Really enjoyed this,

Really enjoyed this, especially the part on risk management, which we've recently been taking into account as a formula in our estimations.

We typically get the deliverables down and use the wide-band delphi method amongst 3 developers and either discuss their confidence level (1-5) or simply throw one in based on the discrepancies in their original estimates. For instance, if we have numbers like, 4-2-3, you can give that a rough confidence level of 2 because though they are close, they are slightly disparate. The farther apart the original estimates, the higher the risk. We then of course talk about large estimate discrepancies, but risk factor doesn't change much if at all unless the client can explain something further in a way that the devs are absolutely sure what is expected. Then we can safely lower the risk.

The concept of managing the risk throughout the project is a bit new to me, and I'd love to talk/read more about that.

Great session

Hi Shannon,

in the presentation you mentioned availability of excel sheets with resources & tools which you would share at the BoF. For those who were unable to attend, and the global audience, would you mind sharing them here and perhaps on the DrupalCon site too?

Many thanks

Paul
