Hi,
I came across this project by accident. I love the idea of learning Drupal with the help of mentors and experienced Drupal users who might be more local to me. It looks like a scheme I saw a while back - Dojo - which doesn't appear to have taken off, unfortunately.
Although I can register on the Drupalladder.org site, there doesn't appear to be a way I can follow the project or register my interest in a future initiative in my locality. Is this something that will be introduced?

Good idea
I don't think anyone had thought of that. I like the idea of having a signup form where people can just put in their name and city, and maybe someone can contact people close by if they'd like to plan a sprint in the area. Is that kind of what you had in mind?
Yeh, pretty much. Even if
Yeh, pretty much. Even if there aren't enough people in the medium-term, at least being able to see how many potential learners who have registered interest could help to build up to a tipping point where there are eventually enough to get together.
If there was a newsletter or a Facebook page in the meantime, to stay informed of progress and developments, that would be an easier way of keeping up to date with what's happening. With so many other things online that I try to keep tabs on, it's easy to lose track. If it's aimed at learners, having a presence outside of the Drupal.org community might lower the barrier to generating interest. For myself, I don't spend much time on Drupal.org, so I don't keep up with what goes on as much as developers and professionals might.
weekly lesson sprints
one way to get involved is with the weekly lesson sprints
there is also a 'get involved' page on drupalladder.org that is intended to give related information (see the 'get involved' page http://drupalladder.org/content/get-involved).
Obviously work on improving the signup and onboarding process is much needed (this tab has been there since at least the Denver, and it's not quite up to the task).
