Remote Speaker
Hi I talked to Nathan about doing a OG presentation and he is willing but may be out of town and wants to know if he would be allowed to demo remotely.
the alternative be that he demo it in January.
JOsh
PS Where the drinkup :P
So I was thinking, if Nathan
So I was thinking, if Nathan is cool with doing the OG presentation in January, then we move it to January. I'm just thinking the first ladder demo/presentation might spark some larger discussions. Plus this will make sure that we have topics for two different meetups.
Thoughts?
Sure, I think we could do the
Sure, I think we could do the remote speaker/demo thing if Nathan is cool with that. What is typically the easiest way to do that, just setup a google hangout for it? Since we have WiFi in the building then I think this could work.
For the drinkup, I was thinking about:
http://republicct.com/ which is only 9 mins from New Horizons.
Would people prefer that the drinkup be just a hour or two after the meetup? We could do 9:15pm until 11pm which I believe is when the place closes.
Or we could do dinner there before the actual meetup itself, whatever people want to do, I can then get a quick head count and give them a heads up.

I would do after
as the drive is long enough where I would be a racing for work.
In at the dever meetup people bring six packs to the meetup, and then go to the drinkup afterwards for foods and more drink.
Dinner
I cast my vote for dinner before.
Cant do drinkup before or after.
I’m allergic to alcohol, and hope the meetup will remain dry.
I thought our previous social
I thought our previous social component before the meeting worked very well. I thought it worked well due to its informality. People could attend or not attend, arrive early or arrive late, ... at their own discretion and not need to make that decision in advance.

I see the meeting itself
I see the meeting itself staying mostly dry due to the venue not allowing food or drink within the computer labs, and based upon the type of place it is I don't see them being thrilled with us drinking. With that being said I had no problem meeting for dinner before and beers after if people are going to be around, but I feel will be informal and people can choose which to attend.
With that being said, is there a place similar to Lena's in the Bloomfield/Windsor area that is casual for people to grab a bite to eat and for us to all sit down, I would be fine with that.
I am open to all suggestion that people want to make.

Restaurant
Concetta's Italian Restaurant (12A Mountain Ave, Bloomfield, www.concettas-italian.com) seems to have good ratings. Anybody familiar with it?
Or maybe Buffalo Wild Wings (www.buffalowildwings.com), near exit 38 of I91?
I would be kool with either
I would be kool with either one of those, seems like we could do something casual at wild wings if we just eat in the bar area. I'm not sure what the setup is like at Concetta's, I'll try to stop by sometime this week and see what its like, maybe its similar to Lena's. I'll let everyone know and then we can make a decision.

Matt, your a bloody legend
Matt, your a bloody legend mate. Thanks for the hard work in restaurant research.
I checked out Concetta's this
I checked out Concetta's this week, wasn't overly thrilled with the layout/setup, not what we had at Lena's in Hartford. Anyway, I think Wild Wings might be a good option, people can just meet in the bar area and just hang out for awhile, if people want to order food or wing then they can easily do that.
The Wild Wings is only like a 10min drive from New Horizons, let me know what everyone thinks. I'll be there at 5:30 just to grab some dinner, anyone that is available is welcome to show up as well.
