Why? Personally I am much
Why?
Personally I am much more in favor of a central place on drupal.org.
Here's one reason why ...
It gives all of the front end Drupal designers one place to discuss one topic, Drupal Theming! I believe that our one main goal out of the project site is to discuss and design/develop/implement a site that will help flourish graphic and web designers alike, in the way of Drupal Theming. Basically, a one-stop-shop, with resources for designers who wish to start theming Drupal. Take a look at the project site, and get involved.

To tell you the truth I am
To tell you the truth I am worried that this will fragment more.
In any case I hope some of the great stuff written makes it back to book pages, etc.
I read that there were some problems in getting things set up here. What were those specifically? Were there issues filed for this in the webmaster cue?
What happens if that site goes down, then all the knowledge gets lost. How will you prevent that?
I found this group through a podcast. What happens when this post moves down in the ranking and other posts replace it. It might make it harder for other people to find.
And it is difficult enough to find things sometimes...
What about expanding the forum section on drupal.org in order to accommodate things more?
And set up taxonomy here, so that all is listed in the proper place.
Not to bust balls, ;-)
Also on drupal.org there is a better change for programmers and others to read stuff, in other words keep the conversation going. Let's stick together, invite for example a programmer for an interview, make a listing of design groups, those kinds of things.
I really like this initiative, and I think it is a good idea. It is great to have a place to discuss this kind of stuff.
Feel free to get back, and disagree with me. I hope you understand my point.
its all about getting stuff done
fragments which fragments? - this whole thing about fragmations are imho a storm in a glass of water no more no less, we all in it to create the best cms there can be, we might have different workareas but thats it
If you look at the tools that we have out of the box in the OA site that were sit up its pretty obvious why we moved this outsite of g.d.o. This site is simply not build to fascilitate the need our working group haves. So ether we could use a lot of time to get the tools build into g.d.o - or we could just get our project started. We choosed the last. This is about getting stuff done. Not changing g.d.o
Having a debate about design / theming in a drupal forum would not work - it would be full of non related material that would clutter up the debate (just look at the amount of idiots that have posted their jobs in hear even that we have made it very clear its not a group for job posting)
If you wanna take up the work to expand the forums, and taxonomy go ahead no ones stops you, but my guess is that the webmasters have more than enough work with various other tasks ;)
Problems if a site goes down - well last time i checked it was okay to make backups, and we are all professionals, so i would be pretty amased if there wasnt backups (and would have to bash in some heads;)
No one is interested in moving content away from d.o were all agreeing that its good to have one central place for everything, so its easy to find. But to try to mash in designer related material into the very codescentric handbooks, just dosnt work.
what we need IMHO is design.drupal.org where we could collect all this material. Again this is a political issue that first need to sorted out, and we simply dont wanna wait untill that descission is being made - so now were working on making resources available, and finding out where we want to go with this.
