Hello There!
I am getting ready to install OpenPublish for the first time and this is my first Drupal installation ever. I was using OJS; this afternoon I learned about Drupal E-Journal and tonight I discovered Drupal OpenPublish. I want to publish initially one single journal and need to be able to create DOI for each article and metadata information to submit to OCLC.
My first question: 1) Do I need to install module E-Journal on to OpenPublish distribution?
And the 2) Can I create DOI (Digital Object Identifier) and collect metadata information to submit to OCLC (Online Computer Library Center)?
I would appreciate very much your help!

DOIs
DOIs can only be issued by an official registry, such as Crossref for publishers (www.crossref.org). There is a cost: annual membership and per DOI registered.
We use OJS for our journals, but only for the peer-review stages. As I am sure you know, it also offers the publishing/access part. I haven't tried E-Journal (since we are using Drupal 7), but there doesn't seem to be much development going on. You might find it easier to stick with OJS, rather than learn Drupal, OpenPublish and E-Journal, but that does depend on your particular requirements, of course!
Good luck.
Drupal OpenPublish vs. Drupal E-Journal!
Thank you for your reply. I was also considering using OJS just for the peer-review stage. But I feel constraint not having support for the solutions of problems. I have a great deal of experience using Joomla and find Drupal not much different. So I will use Drupal OpenPublish but want to know if I need to install Drupal E-Journal module also.

Drupal OpenPublish vs. Drupal E-Journal
I'm afraid I have no experience of E-Journal and very little of Open Publish—I am hoping for further development of the Drupal 7 version so that I can use it for a magazine rather than journal site.
The post (http://groups.drupal.org/node/120509) might help you further. Otherwise just try it and see how it goes!

Drupal OpenPublish vs. Drupal E-Journal!
Thank you so much for your reply! I am considering also Digital Publishing Systems (DPubS) for the journal. I expect to be able to take a decision this week. Again, thank you!
Not sure why you are
Not sure why you are considering OpenPublish for a journal site. OP has no functionality of becoming a journal site (I mean a manuscript tracking site).
OP is best for newspapers. However, if you want just a front page for your journal, then OP might be good.
Re e-journal, do you really want to use something that was last updated 3 years ago with maintenance and dev statuses being unknown?

Open Journal System vs. Drupal OpenPublish!
Hello,
Thank you for your reply! I am looking for a university where to publish our journal. I contacted ASU and they suggested me Drupal OpenPublish as an alternative to OJS. I am getting to know OP now, and what I read so far confirm me that it can be used to put the journal in circulation.
Regards,
Forget the E-journal module.
Forget the E-journal module. It's for D6 and have no port for D7. OpenPublish is the right choise for new e-publishing projects. You DON'T need the e-journal module to go with OP.
