Here's what's coming up for this October meeting in the Balboa Park Hall Of Champions:
Coming Up For This Month's Meeting
We'll start off with a rousing round of Lightning Talks!(40min) again this month. For the first half hour of our evening, everyone should come prepared to discuss a recent Drupal thought, observation, or experience that takes five minutes or less to talk about. You can teach us something, wonder out loud why X doesn't work like you think it should, or ask questions about some Drupally thing you're struggling to understand. The only rule for Lightning Talks is that you're going to be stopping at five minutes whether you're done or not. Other than that's it's fair game, so have fun!
Then it's time for SANDcamp planning! Only four months to go till SANDcamp in January, and there's a lot of work to be done. We need a site built, sponsorships gathered well before December, video projection gear acquired, coffee service, caterers, chairs, you know. The works! Let's get a jump on things by tasking out what we know we have to do to some volunteers who can begin getting things done.
Should I post the contents of last month's brainstorming session into a wiki so we can begin getting it tasked out?

Next Month's needs
Site Demo We need a volunteer to present a 15 to 20 minute talk on a website that you're either currently working on or have just launched. Tell us why it's cool, how you did it, and point out any special features that might be different from a regular old DOOB site. (That's Drupal Out Of Box for you uninitiated folk). Volunteer your site in the upcoming site demos wiki!
Developer & Themer Secrets If you want to volunteer to present a topic next month, or if you just have a cool idea you wish someone would talk about, please add a line to the presentation topics wiki
We'll run the poll again next month and let attendees choose their favorite topic of learned interest from among all the available volunteer teachers.

I'm sick and won't make it
Gang,
I'm in bed again with a fever that I though I got over yesterday, but apparently didn't. I won't make it to the meetup tonight, but Christof and Root will be there to cover the SANDcamp discussions. I'll try to get some infos posted as per our last month's discussion and idea brainstorming session, and tonight we really should begin getting some volunteers assigned to concrete tasks.
Have fun tonight, and tell me how it went!

I mentioned
during the meeting that Acquia has started providing free hosting service for non-profits and specifically drupalcamp websites, which could be a really cheap and easy solution for the new sandcamp site.
