Greetings Japan!

I just wanted to let you know that the next Lullabot online workshop, called "Drupal Fundamentals" has been planned at a time convenient for people in Japan to attend. We're running the workshop in the evening US time on Mondays, which works out to be Tuesday morning in Japan!

This English-language online workshop will be happening Tuesdays at 09:00* (Tokyo time) for 6 weeks starting October 13th (that's a week from today). Each class session is 2 hours long and includes question/answer time with Lullabot's experts. The price is $395 USD which at the time of this writing works out to be about ¥35000 JPY.

This workshop is perfect for anyone who is new to Drupal or just wants to complete their basic Drupal knowledge. In addition to access to the live webcasts, attendees each get their own sandbox Drupal site, and access to the class message board for help and discussion.

Find out all about the workshop here.

*Note: Due to the end of US daylight savings time, the class time will change from 09:00 to 10:00 in November. This means the first three classes will start at 9 and the last three will start at 10. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Nice to see lullabot flirting around in Japan!

I'm sure your workshops provide some invaluable learning/training experience, but I wonder a little bit as to the value of it in Japan for Japanese people. Of course, there are a few bilingual Japanese members in the community as you can see around in this forum, but to make this really useful/successful here, for a majority of users, would require support in Japanese...

Please. do not get me wrong, I really do believe workshops like those provided by lullabot are an invaluable resource to help Drupal grow in Japan, but I was just wondering if you've considered how big is the language barrier...

I'm afraid I can't provide any constructive suggestions for now, but hopefully some ideas will popup (from me or other members).

Thank you for caring about our still little community :)

I offer my support

I offer my support (services) to consult and support localizing Lullabot materials in exchange for some fees and royalties. I was gonna offer being a representative for Lullabot in Japan since I like you guys so much (and I'm still a Drupal newbie), but I didn't expect to see you guys out here so soon. Please contact me if you're interested, feel free to call me out for a boot camp. I'm a hip 36 year old php programmer fluent in Japanese and English, currently supporting a small investment banking firm in Japan, at your service.

Hey Jeff, Awesome news!!

Hey Jeff,

Awesome news!! While we're at it, why not also translate the materials to Chinese and Korean too? I'm one of the admins in HKDUG, now living in Tokyo. I think at least one other admin in Hong Kong has done work with Lullabot? The Swedish guy from Moni-Media who worked on the British Council site? And then there's Dave from Advomatic. We are a tight knitted group of Drupal enthusiasts (and all big fan of Lullabot! :)

Drupal is definitely gathering momentum around the world, albeit a bit slower here in Asia. I'm all for spreading Drupal and Open Source technology to Asian communities. So I'm definitely interesting in translating Lullabot course materials into Chinese!

My past experience are MSN and Yahoo in the US, recently moved to HK and then Tokyo for work. Now working for one of the most innovative company in the world, bringing them to the English (World) stage.

Jeff and Scott, please keep me in the loop and see what kind of things we can work out together.

Cheers,
Nick

We're having an "Introduction to Open Source Systems" seminar in Kyoto on 4/27. The purpose is to spread the word in Kansai about open source systems including Drupal. It's free to all, and even if you're a Drupal pro, please attend and join our discussion. There will be lot's to learn for all!
Also, I am looking for a Japanese person who has worked with Drupal to help lead our Drupal discussion(Talk Sessionの座長). If you are interested or know someone, please register for the seminar.
