It's too quiet. ;)

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

So let's talk about something like setting up like a bi-weekly "everyone be at the same place during time X to time Y" thing, totally informal, but where we could see some friendly faces who don't give you a blank stare when you say "Drupal." ;)

a) Where should we go? L'utopik has kind of a funky hippie vibe, free WiFi, and is pretty spacious. Any other suggestions?

b) What times during the week work best for folks? Wednesday evenings? Sunday afternoons?

My vote...

I like Sunday afternoons, personally; say from 1pm - 5pm. I don't really have a preference on the place, though if it's near-ish a Metro station that seems best.

I was just thinking the same thing...

I think that the lull had something to do with that cold spell we had - nobody wanted to go out during that! Anyway, I'm definitely up for a gathering of Drupal people. I'll second the Sunday afternoon vote, although that is going to conflict with the Drupal Dojo webcast at 2pm for some people. L'utopik looks fine - never been there - but anywhere that has wifi and is metro accessible is good for me (I hate trying to find parking on the island!).

Indeed

Let's meet more regularly!

Every other Sunday at L'utopik works for me.

I'd also love to offer the Northcliffe Square (across from Vendome Metro) as an option. The organisations here are the MUCS Project, Typeleft Publishing, USESSC and the NDG Barter Network. We have a small conference room, wifi and fair trade coffee (25¢ a cup). Scheduled meetings are welcome but I wouldn't know until next week whether regular (bi-weekly) meetings are okay.

Sundays...

This is definitely a good idea, but I don't know about Sunday afternoon : it's usually a "day away from computers" for me (as much as possible, anyway). L'Utopik is a good place though, and not too far for me, so I'd be there once in a while anyway.

It would probably be possible to do it at the "facil/koumbit office" (near Crémazie métro station) once in a while too.

Ditto...

Weekly meetings on Sunday are not going to happen for me... I need to disconnect sometimes and that is usually the weekend.

The Koumbit/Facil office is available Monday to Thursday for this kind of meeting. It is a little more peaceful than l'Utopik, is "free" and has better wifi. But I'm open to any/all places.

BTW, thanks for the call to action Angela.

Cool, what times?

webchick's picture

I never understand these people who want time away from Drupal. Sheesh. ;) But to each their own. :) The conflict with the Dojo is a good point though.

What times are the Facil office open for a bunch of Drupal geeks to drop by? :) I was under the impression it was only like a 9-5 type of thing, and wasn't sure if most people could get away during those times...

Oh, and by "free" I assume some kind of donation is preferred to use the space. What's an acceptable amount per time?

Bande-Passante

First, it's called Bande-Passante :)

Koumbit shares the space on the days given by Omar, but it's open almost anytime. For instance, we may be having an all-nighter for île sans fil at the end of the month. Very often, we receive groups in the evening as well. It's not a 9 to 5 thing.

That said, you're definitely welcome to our space. There's a 1 $ / person / 6 hour charge, more like a tip, really.

See other thread...

I don't know if it was the right or wrong decision... but I started a new thread with the proposed schedule for the next couple of months.
