Hi all!
im a drupal developer in San Luis Obispo. and im wanting to see if there is a possibility to start a California Coast Drupal Camp!
during the summer this is one of the best vacation spots in the country and during the winter its a way for people to get out of the cold.
no matter when we did it im pretty sure it would be a win.

California Coast Drupal Camp
Could you elaborate a little on what you have in mind, please? If you are thinking of something like the Drupal Camps in Irvine - to my mind that is too ambitious and also competitive for resources and attendees.
Something where there are lots of opportunities for finding out "how to" do lots of Drupal stuff for "ordinary" people, I am all for it. Things like: how to get Drush going for you (meaning me), how to get a fool proof spam system for your website, how to really work Feeds, how to send mass emails from Drupal, how to choose the hosting that is best for you, etc.

Curious, curiouser and most curious ...
California Coast Drupal Camp
well,
at first it has to be small. i was thinking a 1 track, 2 day site building camp, where the people will leave with a mostly finished product
a rough sketch would be something like:
Day 1:- Installing a local AMP stack (linux/mac/windows)
- Installing Drupal 7
- Basics of Core Drupal
- Finding / Installing and configuring contrib modules
- Finding / Installing and configuring contrib themes
Day 2:- Installing Drush
- using Drush
- Intro to Themeing (with Zen or Omega)
- Intro to Module Development
- Deploying you site and Deciding on a WebHost
I think therefore I Drupal
Have you considered starting
Have you considered starting a SLO Drupal meetup.com group? That would be a good way to meet local devs and get help organizing the event.
Check out this directory

Also,
Christefano is considering a Drupal Retreat for Drupalistas in the SLO area and people driving through the area on their way to BADCamp. Probably in October.
You might want to talk w/ him.
California Coast Drupal Camp
more then anything im just surprised that a central coast drupal camp doesnt exist. whether in SLO or SB county. im trying to see if there is any interest in starting one.

C2DC!
Count me in. I'm definitely interested in a Central Coast Drupal Camp. How about we have a roundtable discussion about it at the next Santa Barbara Drupal meetup on June 24th?
As far as cities go, I'm happy with any Central Coast location that's serviced by Amtrak's Coast Starlight:

My vote will probably go for Santa Barbara or San Luis Opispo.
As far as dates go, the camp schedule here in California is already pretty full. I think have a good idea, though, of which times are good so that we're not competing for speakers, sponsors and attendees.
awesome!
i just think that any time you put a conference in a normal vacation spot is a win.
i would love to attend the roundtable via google hangout.

Migrating south
I'm up in wine country, but I'd totally attend a SLO or SB DrupalCamp. I've got friends in SLO and relatives in SB!
i think next year...
this has to come together and happen. maybe Cal Poly SLO will give us a good space?
or even Cuesta College which is in a pretty area...
I think therefore I Drupal
Does anyone have contacts at
Does anyone have contacts at Cal Poly?
I have a number of contacts at UCSB who I'm happy to talk with. With my current schedule, this is something I can devote some time to starting the 2nd week of September.
Is anyone interested in
Is anyone interested in getting together for a meetup or meet-and-greet this month just prior to BADCamp?
In about two weeks, I'll be driving through and I'd love to meet everyone. My preference is somewhere in San Luis Obispo.
