Training (free or commercial)

We're excited to announce Exaltation of Larks' next web development mentorship training. This free training is from 12-3pm at Opodz, a new and well-designed collaborative work environment serving Little Tokyo in Downtown Los Angeles, California.

What Will Be Covered?

We'll be using extensive video libraries from both OSTraining.com, Build a Module.com and Drupalize.me. Our main focus this time is on Drupal, a free and open source web framework used by millions of websites on the web today, and we'll also cover other web applications like WordPress and Joomla, as well as general coding topics such as HTML, PHP, CSS and responsive web design.

What To Bring

Bring your WiFi-capable laptop, your lunch, and learn about web development! If you don't have a pair of headphones, you can buy a pair from the organizers of this event.

Registration

This training is free. Donations to Droplabs, a learning community that provides low- to no-cost training, mentorship and entrepreneurship services, will be accepted ($45 suggested donation) at the event and at http://droplabs.net/donations

Registration is required. Sign up at http://www.larks.la/training

Be sure to arrive early to give yourself enough time to park, pick a seat, and connect your laptop to the venue's WiFi network. We begin promptly at 12pm. Classroom space is limited, so sign up early.

What To Expect

Instead of spending the full day in a traditional workshop-style lecture, attendees will work at their own pace through a set of comprehensive, focused training videos covering one or more broad areas of web development, including HTML, CSS, PHP and responsive web design, and frameworks such as Drupal, WordPress and Joomla.

Experienced mentors will be available to answer questions on a one-on-one basis, work through difficult spots, or demonstrate additional examples to help clarify difficult concepts. By using video training instead of a live lecture model, attendees will be able to work at their own speed, pausing where they need to, replaying material they didn't get the first time around, and skip material they're already familiar with.

If you've ever zoned out during a lecture and found yourself a little lost, or been frustrated that the short time available for questions gets taken up with discussion you're not interested in, this web development mentoring event is perfect for you. You can take breaks when you need, tackle exactly what you need to learn (or we'll help you figure out what that is) and you'll get a lot of personal, expert advice along the way.

Attendees of all levels of experience with web development will come out of this workshop having made a huge step up their learning curve. Attendees will also be given discount codes for OSTraining, Build a Module.com and Drupalize.me so that they can continue to review and expand their knowledge following this mentored training.

Hi all, we have some good news to share! We're adding Drupalize.me to our list of video libraries.

Unfortunately, our Drupalize.me license is currently limited to just one machine so the access at this mentored training is provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
