I know this is an issue with Drupal as a whole, but shouldn't a news website solution address the issue of handling multiple photos, captions and photo credits for each article node out of the box?
Anyone have an easy solution?

I apologize for sounding like an ingrate in my previous post. As a newer Drupal user I've been having a horrible time trying to build a news site that does what I need it to do. Our current news site is not great by any means, but we are used to being able to upload photos to an article with captions and credits attached. In the case of our current site, those photos are then placed into a rotator which displays in the story.
I don't need things to necessarily work that way, but in the case of the OP install, I can upload the photo, but there is no built-in method to add captions and photographer's credits which is necessary for a news site.
I just hoping that since it is built as a news platform with so many advanced features, it would have also taken care of the basic ones as well.

on the contrary we do very much appreciate the feedback. It's a work in progress and we may well be missing something important.
I know that Article content type allows indicating photo credit for the photos shown in the article. I also know that there's some work on photo rotator being done. I just checked and, indeed, photo content type does not seem to have credit/author field. I am gonna check with some people here to find out why that is so and get back to you.
