Date translation in openpublish

May be this question is not directly related to openpublish, but since I am considering to use OP for a non-english site, I am posting it here.

If I want to translate the date (months, numerals), do I need to hack the template files or there is any other way around. I know a little bit of php (through trial and error and by looking at existing php file). I tried to translate the months (Jan, Feb... etc) via translation module, but that does not translate the roman numerals.

For example, March 1, 2010 should be translated to জানুয়ারি ১, ২০১০ (its in Bangla/Bengali). The translation module gives জানুয়ারি,1, 2010, which I don't want.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Translation is somewhat

Translation is somewhat behind the curve right now. A lot of things regarding translation are planned to be fixed by 2.0 release. When that is done - i18n will take care of date translations and no template hacking will be needed or recommended.
