Hello everyone. I'm currently visiting the parents in Tampa Florida and I'll be here for the next week. Curious if there is a meetup going on in the Tampa and/or Orlando area. I'd love to meetup with some Drupalers/Drupalistas/Drupalites in the area.
36 people on this list.. someone has to be in the area, right?

I am in Sarasota
The problem with Florida is it is a very big state... Sarasota is an hour south of Tampa.
It must be 850 miles from Key West to the Pensacola

Miami it is, then.
Seriously, there are some folks in South Florida that would love to connect. Would you consider having a conference call or Acrobat Connect session to talk about issues or show off new work. We'd be happy to offer the Connect room.
I'm one of a few drupaleros down here that would love to be part of the Florida whole, but are too environemntally conscious to put an 8 hour drive's worth of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Yeah, that's the ticket...

I'll be here
I am in Tampa, and wouldn't mind driving to Orlando or Sarasota, both about an hour's drive from my location.
I have never met another "Drupalista" in person (not that I know), but would certainly enjoy the opportunity, even if it is in an informal way, maybe with a coffee and a laptop. Heck, it might even be healthy for my relationship, since my girlfriend is already sick of hearing about my "drupal adventures". Count me in Jredding.

Tampa Meetup
I don't have much Drupal experience, but I'm in Tampa.
I'm up for meeting other local Drupalers from this area. I was looking through our memberlist and there are quite a few members from Tampa.
There are many Panera's in Tampa that have free wireless and relatively good highway access to the I-75, I-275, and I-4 that could make good meeting points, though I'm open to other locations.
Gainesville in October
Don't forget that at the last meeting of Florida Drupalers in Orlando back in May, we tentatively agreed on a Gainesville meeting in October. Moving that to Tampa is not a big deal to me, especially if we can get a few more attendees.
What does everybody else think?

Tampa is closer for me but I like Gainesville better
I would like to try for Gainesville in October. Either way we need to start our "marketing campaign" pretty soon.

What if...
Can we make this a very informal meet between whomever would like to meet without changing anything about the Gainesville meeting (which I would like to attend, but don't know if will be around then). If anything, meeting would encourage us to meet again in October.

time and place?
Sounds good - name the time and place and put it out there.
I'll try to make it over there - if not, see you in October.

Gainesville in October
I'm in for a All Florida meet-up in Gainesville in October.
But I agree with faunapolis that it would be nice to do smaller local meet-up events so we can get to know our local Drupal communities. This should also encourage our participation in the Gainesville meet-up in October.
How about this Panera? Is Saturday (tomorrow) evening fine?
This panera is in North Tampa (new tampa), close to Lutz. It has a Bennigan's almost next door (if we get kicked out of panera we can always continue the conversation and change the coffee for beer), and a Starbucks nearby (just in case).
The Panera is on Bruce B. Downs, which is an avenue off from I-75 (exit 270); you enter Bruce B. Downs, and drive about 1 mile North, on the second stoplight you make a left and a right as if you were going to Bennigan's; the Panera is right beside it.

Saturday Meet-up in Tampa
Panera in New Tampa sounds good - earlier is better for me - say 5:00 pm?
Keep us posted
I won't be able to make today.

Tampa local meeting Follow-up
I noticed we never commented on the first Tampa Drupal meeting - Faunapolis and I were the only two who showed up, but we had a good conversation and got to know each other. jredding was unable to attend. Faunapolis and I were supposed to meet again the next night with jredding, but I never made that meeting. I think the local meetings are certainly a good idea, and I would like to do them more often - the meeting motivated me to try more Drupal and also motivated me to go meet all the Florida Drupalers at the All Florida meeting in October in Gainesville.

Jackezel, jredding, and I
Jackezel, jredding, and I will be meeting at this panera tonight at 6 PM. It will be very short (no more than an hour) and very informal, so if anybody catches this post and would like to come, you are welcome to come.
Today Monday at 6PM.

Drat - wish I would have
Drat - wish I would have read this sooner as I could have made it - oh well, next time I guess...
Good meeting after all.
A couple of unexpected things happened, and out of the three people originally meeting today, only I made it. However, another person who found out about the meeting from meetup.com (meetup gathers RSS content including the broadcasted from this site) showed up and had come all the way from Sarasota. The other person is actually an experienced PHP programmer / designer looking for a CMS framework to use. With my little knowledge, I tried explain the pros of drupal, and hopefully, and maybe I helped gain a valuable member for our community.
Cheers
