Hi again everyone,
The next Perth Drupal meetup is scheduled for 5:30 pm, Wednesday 24th March, 2010 at the Itomic Office in West Perth.
This will be our forth Drupal meetup in Perth, but the first that will follow some structure and won't be located at the (noisy) pub!
Below is the structure we are going to try to follow:
- Introductions: everyone (or perhaps just the regulars?) to introduce themselves and their backgrounds in general.
- Drupal South Wellington Debriefing by Thomas (thsutton).
- Show & Tell: have those who wish to, talk about a Drupal project they are currently working on and/or recently completed where they've learnt something new and interesting.
- Drupal Q&A HowTo: ask a question about any topic relating to drupal including but not limited to theming, informational architecture, module development, best practice modules, etc.
- Discuss which topics should be focused on for the next meetup.
The Itomic Perth Office is located at Suite 34, City West Centre, corner Plaistowe Mews & Sutherland St, West Perth (google map link). You can either catch the train and walk 100 metres from the City West Train station (Fremantle line), or park in the City West section (where Scitech/Harvey Norman's is, which is free for the first 2 hours).
Itomic will be kindly supplying the meetup with beer, but if someone else could please bring some nibblies (chips, or something) that would be great.
As always, if you're interested in anything Drupal, please come along - all types are welcome: techies, project manager's, hobbyists, students, designers, anyone!
Please email either Sam or myself (alex.bergin@gmail.com) if you'd like a mobile contact number to help with finding the place.
Cheers and look forward to seeing you at the meetup!

Nibbles are on Itomic too
Hi,
Ross here, MD of Itomic. Just to confirm: we (Itomic) are happy to supply drinks and nibbles. Enjoy!
(Alex - don't let me forget!).
Cheers,
Ross.
Just a reminder that the meetup is 5:30PM tonight!
Hey people,
Just a reminder that the meetup is 5:30PM tonight! And a couple of things:
There's about 6 people signed up including myself, plus another itomic person might be coming too.
See you's then.
I may be a few minutes late,
I may be a few minutes late, but I'll definitely be there!
Sincere aploogies
My apologies to alexkb and generous hosts at iTomic. Still coping with severe storm damage here at UWA and I will have to be a last minute withdrawal.
:-(
However, I do look forward very much to getting along in future and could offer venue/hosting in Nedlands from late April if this would be of any assistance.
meetup summary
What a great meet up this month!
Thomas did a fantastic job going over just about all the sessions from the Drupal South Conference from last January. All the info for the conference slides that Thomas referenced are over on the drupalsouth website (note there is two pages there). This took up most of the time (we ended up finishing at 7:45PM!), but we then also had some discussions about drupal 7, and a few 3rd party modules: admin_menu, panels, ctools, views, and some theming stuff.
If I've missed any links of things we discussed (I think most should be on that drupal south programme page), please post them here for everyone.
Thank you to all those who attended, it was a great turn out: Meg (from the DCA), Chris & Els (from multimediamakers), Andrew & Morgan (from Museum of WA), Thomas (from Bouncing Orange), and Guy and myself (from itomic).
Thank you especially to itomic web designs for providing beer, snacks, and the venue!
For the next meetup, to share hosting around, Morgan suggested the DCA as having a good conference room that should fit more people as well as being available after office hours? We could aim for either 21st or 28th April (Wednesday). Please either post back here or start a new thread. If I don't hear anything within 2 weeks, I'll send a few emails around, and we could possibly fall back to using itomic again if needed. Hopefully, our previous attendees will come to the next one too, including Hub and Sam!
Thanks again for all who attended and see you at the next meetup!
No worries gmalcolm. I think
No worries gmalcolm. I think you know Meg? We'll stay in touch for the next meetup and see you then. Cheers.
Good to meet you all
Terrific to meet you all last night :-)
For the next meeting, could we go for 21st April as I'll be unavailable on the 28th.
I can work with Morgan on booking a room in the Museum or State Library if that helps.
April Meeting
Hi,
I vote for the 21st of April as well. I just happen to be downtown Perth for a course that week, so I would love to attend and meet up with you all.

Hi all, Just getting my act
Hi all,
Just getting my act together about this - I should be able to get a room on the 21st April - hope that night suits everyone?
It will be at the State Records Office which is in the Alexander Library building in the cultural centre in Perth. Public transport is good and there is parking underneath the building.
I'll post again here once it's confirmed, but if you can pencil in the date that would be grand :-)
Cheers,
Meg
Sounds great Meg! Looking
Sounds great Meg! Looking forward to it.
April meeting - confirmed
Hi all,
Confirming that the April meeting will be on the 21st April at 5:30pm at the State Records Office of WA in a meeting room on the ground floor.
If you enter through the State Library reception, head towards the western wall (printing/change machine) of the public computer terminal area. There will be a door with a sign saying "WA Drupal User Group" - come on in :-)
Any problems and the people on the reception desk should be able to assist you to locate us.
Please let me know if you can make it so that catering doesn't fall apart - we'll provide beer, soft drinks and some nibbles :-)
Looking forward to seeing you all!
Cheers
Meg
