Now that I have gone deeper into OP 1.7.1, I have come up with the following feature requests
About the blog nodes:
I saw that the node-blog.tpl.php has the codes to add main_image and main_image_credit. However, the relevant fields are not actually there in the default OP installation. Therefore, I've added those two CCK fields and was able to attach a main_image to the blog node (exactly similar to what we do with article nodes). However, I could not display the main_image_credit field on the blog-nodes.
Request: Enhancing the blog nodes with main_image and main_image_credit fields would be great.
About Tags/Topics:
I found that /path-to-site/topics/keywords works nicely with OP. They can be used to generate menu items by default. However, if you see the URL of an Author, you will find the keywords right beside the title of the article that author has created. The problem is, the keywords there are not of the same form as topics/keywords. Rather, it is of the form .. category/topics/keywords (depending on how your URL-alias is configured).
When you click on such a link, the pages do not display the list of articles that belongs to that keyword. Instead, it only shows the author_information. No teaser or body is displayed.
Request: Better display/handling of tags or topics
Translating "Blogs", "Latest Headlines" etc..
Currently, for a non-english site, I am translating the keywords by editing the relevant views--***.php files. A better way would be good. I am using a subtheme of the default openpublish_theme but putting the tpl.php files inside the subtheme does not work (I have limited idea on these, any suggestion would be great).
I hope I was able to explain the requests clearly. If not, please let me know.

One more about image node
OP has embedded media field for both video and audio nodes. Just wondering if you would add the same for image node as well. This is will make OP more general and flexible out of the box, in my opinion.

Absolutely. It's a clear
Absolutely. It's a clear oversight that image does not have one. Just opened an issue to get this done and it will be in the next release.
Thank you for pointing this out.

@statalk,
thank you for your very thoughtful analysis and for sharing your experience. Very much appreciated.
We will definitely take your comments under advisement. Specifically, you are absolutely correct about missing t() functions around some strings. We are adding those as part of the theme cleanup.
Thank you!
