Event type:
User group meeting

At the end of the month, my wife and I are moving out to the west coast, and I would love to see you all one last time. sniff! :(

So! Let's hang out and talk about Drupal next Thursday night! :D

Only local images are allowed.

On a more personal note, I'd like to sincerely thank everyone here for always making me feel welcome at meetups, despite my language barrier, and for being some of the most energetic, passionate, and smart people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. And also thanks for dragging me out of the house once every couple of months to see actual people. ;) Hopefully we can catch up at future Drupalcamps and Drupalcons (maybe even Drupalcon Montreal 2012? ;) ;))

I will be there

Webchick, you know that I will always love you and I am sure everyone here feels the same. You will always be welcome to come back any time to see us.

Why not go at the Commensal on Saint-Denis. Let's see how many people we can gather this time. :-)

We are SO going to miss

We are SO going to miss having you around! It was always cool having such a well-known (and awesome) Drupal personality in our own backyard. I'll definitely make the effort to come out and hang out with you. As for a place to meet, how about PJ's Pub at 6910 St-Jacques? There's lots of place, the beer is cheap and the food is good.

Place suggestions

If the weather's good, I would really like to hang out on a terrasse. If we stick to the Old Port like for the regular meetups at the Evolving Web offices, there are a number of places (not sure on prices): Verses Sky above Hotel Nelligan, Aix above Hotel Place d'Armes, Ramparts above Auberge de Vieux-Port, Boris Bistro, Jardin Nelson, etc.

Of course, there's the usual spots like Ste-Elizabeth or Ste-Sulpice, which I've actually been to!

Oooh. Terrasse sounds awesome!

webchick's picture

Although I dunno. There's all that "sun" and stuff. ;)

We should probably have a backup plan too in case it's raining.

And aw, thanks you guys! HUGS

Thursday's looking sunny,

jpmckinney's picture

Thursday's looking sunny, though a bit on the chilly side at 17 degrees. As there's a lot of enthusiasm for terrasses, I recommend we go with Ste-Elizabeth; it's central, more cozy than St-Sulpice, and has heaters if it's chilly. We're nine here in the thread who are attending, with maybe another six from Evolving Web. I can call ahead on Thursday to reserve a section of the terrasse to fit us all.

Awesome! :D

Météomédia does forecast some west-coast weather, but St-Sulpice would otherwise be a good place if we get there early enough. I'll be there!

You leaving: awww boo!

We'll miss you, Angie! And sure, I'll come tell you that in person. I hope Vancouver knows how lucky it is to get you!

Oops, spoke too soon. I won't actually be in Montreal that night, sadly. Have a great sendoff, though.

this is a real lost for our community

really sad to see you go. I do hope you and your wife will be happy in Van. I will try to go if the wife and baby let me go ;-)

Dear Webchick,

omar's picture

I remember when we met at the first Montreal Drupal meet-up in Montreal. Even back then (early 2006) you were already the biggest Drupal rockstar in town. As a local community we have been extremely privileged to have access to your deep insights regarding the technical and social dynamics of the community that we all benefit from. You will be greatly missed.

Nobody, and I really mean nobody, can fill your shoes. Your technical prowess, adept moderation skills and intense dedication to, and involvement with, the broader Drupal community, are rarely, if ever, matched with such down-to-earth humility and good nature... not to mention that there is only one non-Dries D7 committer ;-)

I sincerely feel fortunate to have had the chance to get to know you and I look forward to working with you again in the future... starting with getting DrupalCon 2012 to Montreal ;-) So despite my sadness for the loss your departure represents for Montreal, I am happy for you and wish you the best.

Thanks for being you.

Your friend,

Omar

P.S. See you Thursday.

Noooo !

Even though you told me a few times I thought it'd still come later. Denial phase, I guess !

Here's my tribute to Angie (it's a Venn diagram but it doesn't look good in ASCII art, so imagine):

Once in a very great while in tech you meet someone who so possesses their skills that they code as thoughts flow, with hands an extension of their minds. Those are rare people. And then you have people who are great communicators. Rare too. The intersection of their groups makes a rare set. Then you had humble, caring and passionate, and you're left with a set of 1. Montreal will miss you Angie ! (that, and my little black cat totally adopted your hair style after you came) I really wish we could have shown you more of this place; let us know when you drop by so that we can.

Cheers & happiness wishes,

Louis-Eric

P.S.: I'm having a little something delivered (if the restaurant management agrees, otherwise we'll do it ghetto). Are we firm on the place ? What's the proposed time ?

My understanding is that we

The surprise should arrive at 7:15; be sure to all be there by then as it'll probably all be gone about a minute later !

I hope the gathering is a fantastic one! The Vancouver Drupal community is very lucky to have you. I've been told how beautiful Van is, so I know you will love it. Happy trails, Webchick!

Okwari (Who thanks you muchly for giving me and my sister a ride to the metro that cold wintery night!)

Alright, Ste-Elizabeth

jpmckinney's picture

Alright, Ste-Elizabeth doesn't take reservations, and it's a popular spot, so I'll get there as early as I can to start taking over tables.

We're in a corner at the end
