It looks like Drupal in Education, one of the largest groups on groups.drupal.org with more than 1200 members, is growing too large and is splitting apart. In the moderation queue right now there are groups for Drupal for K-12 Schools, California Higher Education and Higher Education.
I'm not sure that everyone on the moderation team has an overview of this situation. Rather than discuss this in the individual moderation logs of each proposed group, I'd like to focus that conversation here.
Drupal in Education is growing too large to handle itself sustainably, I think, and groups.drupal.org infrastructure in its current incarnation doesn't really support subgroups. Should we approve these new groups and make an announcement in the Drupal Education group? Or should someone in Drupal in Education create OG Vocab categories and OG Panels pages to better structure the group and its flow of content? Are there any other solutions?

Approve
As the creator of the original Drupal in Education group, there was a time when I worked pretty hard to keep the groups from fragmenting. In the past, that was a good thing, and that centralized conversation was one of the contributing factors to the groups growth.
Now, I think that time has past, and that these groups should be approved. I do, however, find it mildly amusing that the K12 group puts one of its goals as creating a place to support Young Drupallers when there is already the Young Drupallers group. It would be nice if a group being created to restore a more singular focus actually had a single focus that didn't duplicate a pre-existing and growing group.
And, the Higher Ed group is already approved, so it's not in the queue, so it's not really an issue here.
But +1 from me to approving the two groups in the queue.
Cheers,
Bill

Thanks, Bill. After hearing
Thanks, Bill. After hearing from you, the group's creator and also a member of the moderation team, I'm inclined to approve the groups right away. Does anyone else want to weigh in? Otherwise I'll approve the groups in the next few days unless someone gets to it before me.
I noticed this, too, but I think that the K-12 group is more for youth and Young Drupallers is for youth, by youth.
I just approved both groups
RE the K12 group, my read on it is that it was more for adults/old folks working in K12. We'll see how it plays out. Either way, it's a good addition.
One of the things I'll do is reach out to the Young Drupallers group and encourage them to join. It would add a lot to the conversation.
Cheers,

And, the Higher Ed group is
Odd, the Higher Education group has been approved but it's still in the moderation queue for some reason.
caifornia higher education
Just to weigh in, as the creator of the california higher education group, there are some good use cases for having separate groups for certain cases.
In the case of the california higher education group, it was important to have a group whose membership is limited to just higher education workers and not consultants. This way we are able to get quotes from hosting companies (e.g., Acquia) and work on strategies specific to the Califronia higher education system (like trying to work out possible ways for central hosting for all CSU and UC systems) and other collaboration.
So, thanks for the approval, and I will encourage any non-specific California discussion to also be posted to the main higher education and education groups.

HI
I have a project which is developing website for higher educational service (universities) where student can share experiance and make reviews (forum) about course universities etc. the website need to compare between universities based on facilities, teaching etc. and alos compare program course based on general teaching method, student service, course quality etc.
Therefore im not sure where Druple is the right CMS for this kind of an educational website service.
I hope to get some feedback asap as this matter of choosing the right one is challenging !
