I have made attempts to patch Services 6.x-2.2:

I have also forked and downloaded 6.x-3.x via git and the GitHub (struggling a bit with those two - but I'll get there).

Attempting to create an endpoint for XMLRPC server (is this the right way?) gives me an error that services_get_all() doesn't exist - although this is warned about in http://drupal.org/node/783228
So probably REST is the right way http://drupal.org/node/783460 - which also explains how to clone the GitHub repo.
Okay, testing resource shows how to create the endpoint http://drupal.org/node/783722, and run a POST test with the Firefox plugin http://drupal.org/node/790416
Now, can you tell me how I can proceed so that:
1. I can get an XMLRPC server up and running (or how long to wait for a skeletal server)
2. How you want tests incorporated (internal to the module, what data will need to be created, then torn down)
3. Can I (should I) repeat some of these issues in the 3.x issue queue
4. How you want modifications pushed back (if that's the right git term)
I'd like to help (if I can), but I just don't really know where to start...
