I am looking for some "suburban" drupalers in Central Montgomery County that might be interested in meeting on a regular basis.
In the past I have only made it to one meetup at Zivtech and would be interested in creating another monthly meetup for the area. Evenings in Philly don't always work for me because I have 3 young children. I am sure that this effects others and I thought an alternative option might work.
If anyone is interested please let me know. I have access to small conference rooms in a few different locations.
Time and location will be decided by the interest.
Post a comment if you are interested and what your best 3 times would be. Hopefully the consensus will give us a direction as to what will work best for the majority of those interested.

I am open to an alternative
I am open to an alternative option other than traveling to the city from the suburbs.
I work in Bucks County and live in Montgomery. Anywhere outside of the city works for me - Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays are usually good for me.

6ish any weeknight works for me.

Eagleville area sounds good.

Would Phoenixville work for people? Sly Fox Brewhouse?
Drupal just always seems more interesting when you've got a nice beer in your hand.

Slyfox is an excellent suggestion.
I live in Collegeville, so Phoenixville works for me.

I like Phoenixville, Beer, and Drupal. Possibly not in that order.
I vote for Phoenixville

Phoenixville works for me
That is much closer than going all the way to Philly for Zivtech meetups. I try, but I can't always make it either for one reason or another. Anytime after 6pm is good for me. Doesn't matter what day really.

Sly Fox Thursday 7/15?
Phoenixville seems to have some momentum -- although Will, who started this thread, has yet to weigh in.
But I propose we give it a shot at Sly Fox next Thursday evening, 6pm. We can always rotate among locations in the future. I'll post it as an event as well.
Looking forward to meeting some suburban beer fans! I mean, Drupal fans!
Phoenixville works for me but parking can be a challenge.
I think it is great that there is this much support for a meeting outside of Philly.
The Slyfox will work for the inaugural "Drupal in the Burbs Meetup".
The one thing I think there absolutely must be long term is wifi. There are plenty of options in the area if the Slyfox doesn't have wifi for future meetups. A private room is also a big plus.
A rotating location is a great idea.
Traffic may also be a challenge for those that have to use 422 between 5-6PM.
Slyfox 6PM Thursday.
City Haters!
I think our community has reached the size that we can justify making a monthly meetup, so... And while I absolutely cannot stand most suburbs (I didn't even have a drivers license until I was 29- and what's up with no sidewalks?) I want to suggest that maybe we should alternate between the city and the burbs on a semi-regular basis (if not every other month, than at least every third month). Heck, some of us 'children of the concrete' might even brave the elements and the obvious dangers of travelling to such foreign/scary places to meetup with our fellow Drupalers (the sacrifices we make!).
Quick question, instead of making this specifically a 'suburban Philly' meetup, how about making it a 'Philly brewpub' meetup? I would love to visit Sly Fox (though I'm not sure I can make this one), and have been meaning to visit for a long time, but I'd also love to visit Dogfish Head (I know they're way down in Lewes Delaware, but they are definitely in the top ten of American breweries, and they use an awesome CMS for their website), Victory (Downingtown), Flying Fish (cherry hill), Iron Hill (a couple of locations in da burbs), and I'm sure there are many more

Earth Bread + Brewery!
How about Earth Bread + Brewery? In Mount Airy (technically still within the city limits). And it's 50 yards away from my house, so I have no excuse not to make the meetup.
Sam :)
I love Earth Bread + Brewery.
I love Earth Bread + Brewery. Do you know if they have wifi? Might need to reserve space since they can get busy.

Well played city lover...
For the record I just can't get enough of the city. I moved back to the area from 6 years in the Caribbean to be closer to Philly.
I think the more meetups the better.
Zivtech, Rock River Star and others have done a tremendous job of supporting and growing the community on all levels.
For the record Phoenixville does have side walks.
We'll see how productive the brew pub thing is before we commit to the brew pub idea.
One other idea I had was to make it near rail lines for those who don't have a car in the city that may want to attend.
Hopefully we will see you Thursday.
I'm all for semi-regular
I'm all for semi-regular 'burb meetups. I can't make this one, tho.

My 2c
Pville is a great location for me, and I can be there as long as my wife does not go into labor before then.
Long-term though, I'm not so sure that a brewpub atmosphere is the best for meetups. I love Alex's place (ZivTech), because it's a relaxed atmosphere, but also allows for learning. I guess what I'm trying to say is that a "burbs" meetup sounds great, and it seems there are quite a few interested, but personally, I like to learn and I think it would be real hard to focus in a brewpub, unless we had a private room.
Just a thought.
Dave
I'm game for some meetups in
I'm game for some meetups in the Burbs. I love having meetups here at the Zivtech office but you get a different dynamic and more of a mixer vibe when we are at a pub. I work at Zivtech and live in Glenside, I'll follow the Drupal and the brew wherever they go. :-D
Decloaking and adding more
Hi --
I'd love a meetup somewhere along the R5 - TJ's or Teresa's Next Door would both be great places to hold a meeting. I'm just diving into a major Drupal project and will likely be looking for some local folks to advise/work on it, so another brewpub (or beer bar) meeting near a train line would be great.

TJ's isn't a bad idea
It's right next to the Paoli train station, so that is perfect for a Philly / Burb brewpub meetup. They also have a HUGE selection of great beer from all over the world. Also, perfect :) The only problem I see there is seating for a big group. We would definitely have to call ahead about a reservation for our size group.

I'd love to come to a meeting in the burbs
I like the city too, but I can never seem to get there for a meet up, and so I've never BEEN to a meet up. I'd like to meet other drupalers. Count me in.
R5 choices
TJ's has a back room that seats about 20, if they are friendly, or 12, if they are not. It can be easily reserved, but I don't know how big Sly Fox got, so I don't know if 20 is good enough.
Theresa's Next Door is right next to the Wayne R5 stop, also nearby is the Great American Pub, but other than the patio, I don't know that it has a room big enough.
In Bryn Mawr (closer to the Rosemont R5) is Gullifty's, which has an upstairs area that can probably be reserved, and would definitely be big enough.
The Milkboy in Ardmore could be fun, though it is BYOB and there's a corkage fee of $5, and we'd have to go on a night there isn't live music. Also in Ardmore is Plate, which would have a separate room, but is pricey and might charge us just for the room.
The difficulty of the main line is that, there are lots of great places to go, but most of them are physically small and therefore won't have a separate room. Hope this helps,
-Larry
