The August meeting of the San Diego DUG is happening on Wednesday August 11th at the Hall of Champions in Balboa Park.
This months DUG will be an organic type of meeting where most of the content comes out through group participation, so come with lots of questions, thoughts or ideas, and we'll get the group talking.
We just got back from an exciting weekend in Irvine for Drupal Camp LA. It was a great time, and we'll be spending most of this upcoming DUG breaking down our favorite sessions and lessons learned from DCLA.
After that we'll have our usual round of lightning talks.
Lightning talks give anyone (and I mean anyone - you, the person next to you and the one across the room) the chance to discuss a recent Drupal thought, observation, or experience that takes five minutes or less to talk about. You can teach us something, wonder out loud why X doesn't work like you think it should, or ask questions about some Drupally thing you're struggling to understand. The only rule for Lightning Talks is that you're going to be stopping at five minutes whether you're done or not. Other than that's it's fair game, so step up and have fun!
Newcomers are always welcome, bring any of your friends that might be interested in learning about Drupal. We hope to see you on Wednesday at the Balboa Park Hall of Champions.

Would anyone be willing to open a Skype or iChat session...
...during the DUG meeting? I can't get there in person.

I'd be interested in
I'd be interested in attending remotely, too.
Interesting Idea guys, but
Interesting Idea guys, but I'm not sure about the best way to pull it off. AFAIK, Skype only does 1-to-1 video sharing, I don't use iChat much, but it might work. Also, heard of Dim Dim and a few others, anyone have thoughts on the best way to handle this?
I think it's a great Idea. if we can think up a system that works well, I think it'd be a good practice to get into for every meeting.
Ustream.tv streams broadcasts
Check out: http://www.ustream.tv/
Ustream seems ideal as it is one stream to several consumers. Anyone willing to try setting this up? Bear in mind, unless someone has an external camera, it'd tie up the Mac laptop as you'd have to point the screen toward the speaker(s).
These following options are geared towards several heads talking at once.
Skype has a beta for multiple video chats, but Macs aren't supported yet. (I haven't tried this)
Lastly, Paltalk Express has a web-based video chat for multiple users.
Thanks for being willing!

This is the one I was trying to tell you about
Drew,
Ustream is the other software I was trying to think of besides YuuGuu. Highly recommended, easy, and free for small things.

Cool, I just signed up for a UStream account and I'll give it a shot at the meeting tonight. I named the show "sddug" and I'll tweet about it[@andrewroot] before it starts if anyone needs the link.
Can hear audio?
Hi, I am interested in participating in the SD Drupal group (I attended SANDCamp and this past weekend LA Drupal Camp) but could not make meeting tonight. I hope to attend in September. I am trying to watch tonight via uStream and see the video but can't get any audio. Any ideas? :-( Doug

Thanks for trying this experiment!
I was able to see some video, but no audio. Seems like that was corrected to a degree.
I just wanted to say "Thanks!" for those that tried to make this happen. Maybe we can improve this and share this on a regular basis. It'd be a cool thing to offer, IMHO.
