Moving from a shared server to a dedicated server

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I’ve been developing our site on a shared server while we waited to get our dedicated server. Now that we have our dedicated server ready to go I’m looking to move the site over to its final home.

Has anyone done this before, and if so, what are the steps I should take?

Get database backup, code

Get database backup, code backup, files folder backup. Move those to the new server.

Do not forget to clear all caches after the move.
