Special menu for Content Editor Role

I want to create/customize an admin_menu for a certain role. Basically I don't want the content editors to have a menu with only the task that they usually need to perform.

Is there a way to swap out the structure of the admin_menu or possibly add a second menu on a role by role basis?

Menu links respect the user's

Menu links respect the user's role. So if the user doesn't have access to the page, then the link will not show up.

I never use the default admin menu for the users. I also build a custom one.

Found A Solution

Thanks Neil, I found a solution that does the trick. I installed the module called SimpleMenu. It has similar style and behavior as admin_menu but it allows you to customize the links that appear in it. I simply made it so only the content administrator role sees the SimpleMenu and higher level admins see the admin_menu.

You can also use Drupal's default menu system to create a Content Editor Menu. Go to site Building> Menus. Create a new Secondary Links menu. You can add menu items like Create page, Create blog Post, Create Image, Create Article and add them to your Content Editor menu. This will appear in a block. Set the block display permissions to Content Editor role. You can have this menu appear in a sidebar and only those users with Content Editor role will be able to see it. Or you can have it display on the content editor's user profile page. Sometimes there's no room in the sidebars so this works well. You can also add custom help text in blocks and display them on the content editor's profile page as well.

Hope this helps,

Katy :-)
