Oxford Drupal Users' Group exists to hold regular informal meetings for anyone in Oxford interested in Drupal.
We usually meet at 7pm on the first Wednesday of the month at the OeRC: 7 Keble Road, Oxford, OX1 3QG, but do check out http://www.meetup.com/Oxford-Drupal-Users-Group/ for confirmation.
Looking for an AngularJS developer (with Drupal knowledge)
Hi all,
(Apologies for the off topic, but I'm really hoping someone can help)
We're looking for an AngularJS developer, but we also develop in Drupal, so some Drupal would be advantageous. It's for immediate start, 6 month contract with potential for a permanent role, working in Oxford (Headington) - rate from £300/day. If any of you know someone that might be interested do get in touch or get them to get in touch with me on 0755 774 6345. I'd like to try to recruit directly to avoid hefty agency fees.
Thanks,
Mike.

Interesting to see Drupal Association research on the Drupal job market and need for more Drupal talent
https://assoc.drupal.org/drupal-job-market-2014
and the survey results: https://assoc.drupal.org/files/Drupal%20Jobs%20Survey%20-%202014.pdf
These both potentially add weight to the need for more Drupal Training, although it is not a huge sample size or specific to Oxford.

Tempted as I was to hijack the broader Open Drupal hangout (given it was all already organized), I think there's a lot that needs to be discussed in the context of getting our training up and running, that isn't really of interest to the wider Open Drupal group.

Also we'll have a Drupalcon Amsterdam update from any Oxford Drupalers who went there.

At the September OxDUG, some people suggested an Oxford-specific OD hangout would be useful.
The idea will be to look specifically at how we move the training ideas we've had to the next level i.e. actually train some people!
This is just a notice that I'm going to set up a hangout this side of Drupalcon Amsterdam, and so if you definitely want to attend it but can't make certain times, then speak now; or forever hold your peace.

As always, I'm going to be in Oxford early this Wednesday. Anyone want to meet up? I've got to take my bike for a service and call at the train station but I'm otherwise free.
We could go for Java & Co as usual, or there's these alternative coffee shops:

Happy whatever!

There could be an audience for short, intensive Drupal training for non-developers. This training would be offered to organizations where people - frequently not even a "web team" - need to be able to interact with Drupal and feel comfortable doing so. This is intended to collect initial ideas which might inform training materials.

Hi,
I'm tentatively looking for an office to house a development team of up to 8 people in Oxford to begin in September or October. Either serviced or not serviced. Preferably sharing with folks in a similar area of web development would be great for some cross-pollination of ideas.
Do please let me know by phone to 0755 774 6345 if you know or hear of anything.
Thanks,
Mike.
Example of field auto-complete and form auto-populate and using a foreign database in Drupal 7
After this month's meet-up, I was asked if I could provide the source of my show and tell. It's taken me a while to de-site-specificalise it and add some modicum of explanation, but here it is. Hope you find it useful:

In a similar way to the last few months, I will likely drive on up to Oxford in the morning, and setup camp upstairs in Java and Co to get on with some work. If anyone is interested in joining throughout the day at all, just come find me, or grab me on twitter @retrodans. I will likely be there all day, except for a possible lunchtime meeting.
At the end of the day, I will then head across to the meetup to chat even more Drupal with you good people.
