Get ready for fun at February's meetup! Melissa Anderson (@eliza411) is going to walk us through some awesome Workflow training in Drupal. This is a very hands-on exercise, so bring your laptops and get ready for between 1 - 1.5 hours of training on the workbench_moderation module. From Melissa:

As always, no formal agenda... just the opportunity to chat, drink, and work in the company of fellow Drupalers. Don't forget to bring your laptop and use the free Wi-Fi. Because AC power is somewhat limited, it's best to charge up your laptop before you come.
We get going at 5:00 p.m., but if your job doesn't permit you to arrive until later, that's fine, too.
So here are the details on January's Brewpal:
Date: Tuesday, January 24th
Time: 5:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Contact your Senator/Congressman Module/webform module/I'll take anything at this point!
I've searched high, low... hell I tried everything but Yahoo and asking my dog (my dog being more useful). Is there a module where users can input their zip code and basic information and then email their senators?
If there isn't, is there a write up on how to combine a set of modules to deliver this functionality? No combination of keywords I can cook up is doing me any good...
Random things I've tried to search for to find this (to help a future person who thinks like I do):

Perfecting Permissions – Editorial Workflow
Does your organization require content review before the content gets published? We'll build a common editorial workflow that allows an author to create and edit his or her own work and submit it for editorial review. Author and editor can collaborate until it's ready to be passed along for final approval and publication.

Read moreKeeping it Fresh! Content Scheduling
Site visitors can't trust information on a web site that's filled with outdated information and delayed announcements. Busy content editors can't always keep track of what needs to go up and down. Building pages that feature content for a limited time doesn't remove the content from site searches.
Come build a system where content contributors can automate the publication and archiving of content, saving time while delivering fresh content.

Hello Drupal-portland! Fun to go to the Drupal Wednesday event.
Just wanted to mention that I am back in town and looking for some more interesting/exciting Drupal projects.
Can do everything from Design to HTML4/5/CSS3/JS to Theming to PHP/Programming, custom modules to Project Management etc.
I'm looking for contract/freelance work, not employment.
Thanks for any tips or help you can offer,
Thanks!

We had a great breakdown by Mike Nielson on the Omega theme, Context, Delta and <a href=""http://www.drupal.org/project/contextfield">ContextField at January's user group meeting. Thank you, Mike, I know I learned a ton and can't wait to use these on my next D7 site.
Read moreThe Denver Bus
I'd like to start the discussion about getting a bus together to take people to Denver for DrupalCon Denver March 19-23, 2012. I, unfortunately, won't be able to arrange the bus and logistics myself and am looking for volunteers to help.
Someone sanity-check me on this, but there was a lot of enthusiasm for a charter bus to Denver with wifi. At what price does this become silly? Has anyone ever taken a charter bus this distance?
Any feedback you have that can help us make better decisions is appreciated.

Create a Drupal 7 event calendar, organize and color-code your events by category, reschedule events with a drag-and-drop interface, and promote them on an Upcoming events list on the front page. Add an RSS feed to keep your audience informed as new events are posted.
If you've configured the old Date/Calendar combination in an earlier version of Drupal, we think you'll be delighted by the relative simplicity of the FullCalendar module!

Read moreJanuary Group Meeting: Mike Neilson Presents Delta Module and Context Field In the Omega Stack
For the January meeting, Mike Neilson will present on the delta module, context field and the Omega theme. These are subjects that have come up in prior Drupal meetings and there seems to be a lot of interest in it. If there are no other presentation volunteers, we could give Mike the run of the show for 45 minutes-ish if he needs it.
See you all the 11th and bring your codey hats.

For the January 11 Drupal User Group meeting, we're looking for any volunteers to give a 15-20 minute presentation on something cool they're doing/have discovered/just figured out. If you've just taken a site live using a combination of modules working together in perfect harmony, we want to hear about. Just wrote some sweet module code or a gorgeous theme and you'd like to walk us through some code? Please let me know!

Hey Guys,
I talked about this at the meetup last night - Dries is going to be giving a webinar this week presented as a "fireside chat" (I expect there to be some classical music, egg nog, a pipe, and at least one person dressed like Sherlock Holmes). The talk is this Friday. He has posted it on his blog:
