September Group Presentation Requests
We need a presenter for our September meetup.
If anyone has anything they'd like to share, let us know. Would love to hear about some Drupal 8 stuff if anyone has any insight into that.
9/2 edit: Joaquin from Metal Toad has offered to give a presentation on "How to get people to fall in love with Drupal". Joaqin will be touching on the following subjects:

Group Presentation Idea (for you, the expert)
After learning a little about deployment automation at recent Brewpals, and getting tired of manually doing things over and over--not to mention fixing things up when i forget a step--i think i need some automation. I'm curious as to what others are doing and if someone has something that really works, maybe they could give a short talk on that?
I'm guessing there are others bouncing around in this room who could/would/should find utility in that topic. I'd be happy to share what we come up with over here, but if somebody wants to share i would smile and buy a beer.
Cheers.

Underdog Drupal Team
I was wondering if anyone would be interesting in coming together to form a Drupal team for the upcoming Underdog League Season?
http://www.underdogportland.com/
My choice would be either kickball or dodgeball. It would be a fun way to meet other Drupal users, work off some stress, and who knows maybe we will have enough interest in two teams and have developers vs themer's tournament?
So let me know if you are interested, what side of town you would like participate in, and what sport.

Am I alone in thinking Drupal 7 is NOT the cats meow?
Maybe it's that I'm older (and crotchety!) and have been working in drupal since the 4.x days, but I was seeing a marked improvement in the way Drupal was progressing for those actually building the sites... and then Drupal 7 came along and took twenty steps back for me in regards to simplicity, performance and versatility...
Am I alone in this feeling, or are there other seasoned Drupal vets out there who feel that Drupal 7 isn't the cat's meow like all the trendy kids late to the show or fanboys are touting it as?

Need August presenter volunteers!
Hi all. I'm looking for presenters for August. If you've got something awesome that you're working on, let's see it!
Post in the comments and let's gauge some interest.
Update: So far we've got two presentations lined up.
- Dan Lind is going to talk about approaching theming on large sites with object-oriented CSS, beyond just preprocessors like SASS or LESS
- Chris Strahl is going to demo the prototype of the Content Staging Initiative that is making it's way into Drupal 8 core and being rolled back to Drupal 7
PHP for Drupal 8
Emma Jane Hogbin and Lorna Jane Mitchell have a great remote workshop coming up in September, described in detail at http://phpfordevelopers.com/workshop. Everything about it looks exciting, except maybe the 6am start time :)
