Being native Portlanders ourselves, we are beyond excited to bring DrupalCon to home turf.
Druplicon Voodoo Donuts? Drupalistas go to a Timbers Game? Drupal food-cart scavenger hunt by bike?? Drupaler mustache competitions? The awesome potential is staggering.

Hello Portland Drupal folks,
I have been developing a project for the City here and we are gearing up to launch a demo version of the site in the next week or so. This project is special in that it functions as a platform to connect local people and local services and data.
There is an ongoing idea gathering phase (with prizes) and subsequent application development phase.
Big thank you, PDX Drupallers

Coming back from DrupalCon feeling all shiny. I wanted to reach out and give a big thank you to all of you for being such a great community. I'm really proud of PDX's showing at the Con this year. You all are great.

If any Portland people are still going to be in Denver Saturday night, one very fun event is the Trivia Night. I did it last year, and it's a lot of fun. You participate in teams of 4, so I'd like to put a team together. If you're interested, reply to this or email me (killshot91 at gmail dot com). If more than that are interested, we can put together more than one team.

We will be meeting at the Forest Grove Library from 6:30-7:30. The subject will be Views usage and configuration. We will be sans the PDX folks that are in Denver (hooray for them for representing Portland for those of us who cannot attend).
If you have questions about Views implementation, come on out and let's work together to solve each other's issues. It will be a short meeting since the Library closes at 8pm.
Join us for a special PDX event at DrupalCon Denver!

Drupal 7 in Day (Monday, April 9 from 9:30am - 5pm)
Site Building with Drupal 7 (Tuesday and Wednesday, April 10 & 11 from 9:30am - 5pm)
Either is is complete on its own, but they combine to make an excellent foundation for site builders and content managers. They're hands-on and suitable for newcomers to Drupal as well as experienced users of earlier versions looking to get familiar with Drupal 7.

Ryan Alsett is presenting at this month's user group meeting, and it looks awesome!
Ryan has built a system that allows attendees to launch a remote desktop session complete with all tools needed to debug a native Drupal instance. In other words, bring your laptops: we're going to debug drupal at the touch of a button, no ugly configuration or installation involved. We're going to walk through the Drupal 7 bootstrap and watch as each part falls into place. Ryan is also going to show us some simple approaches to debugging our own projects.

What
Most likely a Solr+Sexy-Filter solution. We'll be doing IA, Wireframes, Design, Theming, etc. (unless you want to help in those areas). Robert will be entering all the content. We're hoping 1-2 developers can help make the whole thing hum, so you're going to need a bit of experience under your belt. Robert will be paying for his own hosting, but we will need help setting up the install/management system and are open to recommendations. Oh, yeah… and the whole thing needs to be awesome on an iPad.
Bottom line, we'll all be collaborating together to build this thing. And it'll be fun.

Hi You guys - can somebody point me in the right direction here - I am trying to think of a way to create a Drupal site where Users can take simple online courses. Each course would be part of a semester and all semester must be completed before their role changes from Freshman -> Sophmore, Junior, Senior (using Rules of some sort)
I know we could do this with Content Types - 1 per class - but there will be 32 classes per year = 128 Content Types (YIKES!!!) and Admin would would have to be comfortable with adding Fields and managing Field Displays... uggg
