Drupalcon Chicago: Anyone Interested in a FL Drupal Meetup at a Steakhouse?

Would any Florida Drupal people be interested in getting together up in Chicago for a world-class steak? Chicago is world renowned for its steakhouses, and I personally don’t want to miss out on this opportunity.

The restaurant that I specifically have in mind is Gene & Georgetti. Gene & Georgetti ages their beef for aged for 35 days and then cooks them in a 1800 degree infrared broiler. They have been featured on the food network and travel channel. From www.travelchannel.com

Founded in 1941, Gene & Georgetti is located in the heart of Chicago's River North. One of the city's oldest and finest steakhouses, its menu pleases locals and tourists alike with a unique combination of classic steaks and traditional Italian dishes. The secret to the 200+ steaks that come through the restaurant's kitchen doors each day is the wet-aging. Dry-aged meet is hung before it's cooked and served; wet-aged steak marinates in its own juices before hitting the broiler. Reservations are highly recommended, and you might find yourself sitting near Russell Crowe, Keanu Reeves, Vince Vaughn or Will Ferrell -- all patrons of this Chicago landmark.

Looking at their menu, I'd estimate each person to get out of there for between $60 and $70- assuming that you have a prime steak and side. However, if that's a bit too much for you, take a look at the menu. There are several pasta dishes, etc that can get you out for much less.

The restaurant is located less than 1 mile away from the "Drupal Tower", and is a 20 minute walk (weather permitting), or 5 minute cab or bus.

If you're interested, reply below!

Button Contributions For DrupalCon

Edit: As was suggested in the comments, Theresa set up a page with a PayPal button. Please use that button to make any size donation. However, if you want your name or your organizations name to also appear on the "free buttons" notice, then please let me know by using my contact form.

Those of you who were at our OSCon table or at earlier events run by this group might have seen our awesome pinback buttons that Theresa Pridemore made for our group. You know how we geeks are at conferences, so the buttons have tended to be very popular and get snapped up very quickly. For those of you who would like to see them, you can see them on Skitch (designs include bleed). At OSCon, Dries said the "Don't Hack Core!" button was destined to become a Drupal classic. Even at non-Drupal OSCon we ran out of those "Don't Hack Core!" buttons before the end of day 1.

Theresa and I wanted to order a batch of at least 2 of the designs ("Don't Hack Core" and one of "Developing Harmony") of these buttons from One Inch Round -- a local button-maker that was one of the sponsors for our 2008 DrupalCamp and who make excellent buttons -- and then take them to DrupalCon and give them away to attendees. The idea would be to put them on a freebie table with a sign that reads something like, "Free buttons. Courtesy of the Portland, Oregon User Group." We can even have the group URL printed on the edge of the button (not visible from the front), or just stick with drupal.org.

Why do this? Well, it's fun and adds a fun benefit to the broader community, plus it raises our DUG's profile and it might even help us find new members (I met a number of Portland folks at the SF DrupalCon who had never even heard of our DUG). Plus we'll see those buttons reappear at conferences for years to come, as past experience has shown.

We'd buy 1" inch buttons, which, including shipping, are $65 for 200, $130 for 500 and $225 for 1000. More than 1000 would probably be overkill, even at a conference that likely will have over 3,000 attendees. We'll buy 200 ourselves for sure, but we're looking for others to chip in so that we can take even more with us. So, any takers? Please reply here, or contact me through my contact form.

Who is going to Chicago and wants to meet up with some Drupalgangers?
I will unfortunately not be able to come to either Chicago or London this year due to work schedule conflicts. I'm sure both will be very fun, however.
I want to be sure we have someone at each 2011 conference who has the login info for the @drupalgangers twitter account and is willing to broadcast plans and updates during the week.
Please let us know if you are planning to be in Chicago and / or London and willing to take this on.

Overview
The Twin Cities Drupal Community is organizing a bus to Drupalcon Chicago. The bus will be part Drupal Sprint (work on docs or modules or code or anything else that you think will help make Drupal better), part socializing (we'll have drinks, snacks and refreshments for all) and part fun! We also believe this to be the world's first mobile Drupal sprint - so jump on board today and you'll be able to tell your grandchildren about it.
