How can I make a change to the layout and order of elements to the node template

Hello,

A couple of questions:

  1. I would like to change the order of elements on my page. For exmaple:

Title Comment count

Author - Taxonomy (Tags) / Taxonomy (Tags) - Star Rating Feature

I made a copy of node.tpl.php from the omega defaults and placed in templates directory of my sub-theme called thebridge but i'm not seeing the changes that I have made. Do I need to make changes to the file's name?

I would also like to display the posts image in two ways:

Removing avatar pictures from integrated node profile drives me crazy

At first, I really am grateful for this module. It is one of the modules I don't wanna miss.

I have a setup of multiple nodes as node profiles.

The problem is that avatar pics show multiple times. The one that should is displayed on the profile itself and the others are displayed on the integrated profile nodes.

That I can't find the easy solution how to remove avatar pics from integrated profile nodes, makes me jump in circles. I want to display avatars only when the node is displayed as a page.

Theme components as nodes

Before reading this post, check out my thoughts on how to implement a new taxonomy system using CCK. It figures into my idea here as well:

http://groups.drupal.org/node/246#comment-1625

Proposal: A theme/module that manages each *.tpl.php file for the site admin by storing the layout in the database. For each handled hook (aka hook.tpl.php), the system would create a CCK type. The type would contain a Title and a text field. The textfield would be the place where the admin could enter the theme code. Each *.tpl.php would just be a shell to pull in this data from the currently selected node.

Firstly, hi all in this group...

A little background from me - I've been programming websites for a few years and recently had a chance to meet Rob Douglass through my work. My eyes have been fully opened to Drupal and its potential! Before drupal I coded sites by hand as I always believed CMS's to be restrictive and blubbery. Although drupal isn't particularly lightweight, its certainly not restrictive. My first (personal) project was to create a challenge database for a forum I regularly attend... This produced DBP-Site. I learned a lot from this such as a code highlighting module which, at some point, I'm going to progress and submit to the module base here (it should work as a more generic highlighter too).

New post view templates

Merlinofchaos came through again, this time with new comment.tpl.php and node.tpl.php. Those make our posts look much nicer with picture, group, privacy, and tag info all presented in a sane layout. nice.
