The Learning Series Part 6 - Theming: Drupal 8 - Let's be friends - Broward Drupal Meeting Minutes - November 9, 2016

This month Jay Epstein (@jeppy64 http://jay-epstein.com/) covered the sixth part of "The Learning Series: Drupal 8 - Let's be friends." Part 6 allowed us to finish off the learning series with theming our site. We walked through theming for the Site Builder in Drupal 8 using Adaptive Theme and the AT Tools module for Drupal 8. Jay gave us a great approach to leverage the Adaptive Theme and the AT Tools that come with it. He focused on showing us how to get the theme started with site builder tools helping to create the architecture of the theme using the Site Building AT Tools.

Drupal 8 Theming Survey

Eine Bitte vom MortenDk
Viele Grüsse, Maria

Hi Drupalista :)

We want to make sure that we are creating a theme system that lives up to the wishes of all Drupal8 users - but especially us themers ;)

Recently we have changed the theming system from phptemplate to twig. So now is a golden opportunity to fix some of the theming assumptions that have been around for the last 6-10 years in Drupal.

Preferred Responsive D7 base themes

Hey peoples,

I'm about to start working on a new theme for a client of mine. I do have some experience creating my own themes and modifying themes developed by others, however this will be my first attempt at creating a Responsive Drupal 7 theme.

The client is working with a designer who has sold them on a site that needs to work similar to this one: http://ffc.com/.

My question - what is the preferred base theme for a D7 Responsive site? I know there are a lot of base themes out there so I appreciate this groups suggestions for which ones are easier to start with.

theming help

Hey all!

I'm finally making a some headway with a more complex D7 site. I am using Omega, and have created a sub-theme. That went pretty smooth. I just have some formatting/alignment questions.

1) Main Menu. I am using Superfish so we can have cool drop downs columns. I have that working well, but I would like to have it centered in the menu region. Screen shot attached. I tried just making the region smaller and centering it more, but then it gets weird on smaller screens before it converts to the mobile friendly version. Is this done with CSS or am I missing something else?

Block Based layout in Omega 4

Just starting out on omega 4 - which i have to say I'm every impressed by - from the outside - love the code based UI modularisation, SMACSS and serious sass/compass commitment. (I passed by on o3 in favour of zurb foundation)

So O4 is looking good, ut it's PANELS centric, and while I'm trying to be open minded here, I keep coming back to preferring BLOCKS - much out of concerns for my clients - as with http://getlevelten.com/blog/randall-knutson/how-i-learned-stop-worrying-...

Zoundation Orbit Question

The slideshow works. Huzzah! However, in addition to the previous and next arrows and the bullets, my client wants a text "More" link to also advance to the next slide. I'm about half way through my Javascript lessons and this is over my head. Anyone available to help? Do I need to write an extra JavaScript function, edit a tpl.php file?
