Newbie question: COD for scheduling courses in a school?
Hello!
Sorry if this is off-topic but I'm still not quite up to speed with how to contact people in the Drupal community.
I'm looking for web-based software for a community college to use (internally) to schedule it's courses. Even though it's small it needs to support multiple Deans, 100-150 teachers (some full time, some part time, some not currently teaching but still interested in teaching), and several hundred courses each quarter (4 quarters per year).

I'm wondering if anyone here who works as an independent freelancer can give me some insight into how they usually structure projects. I currently work with a few full-time people--we are all self-taught and do Drupal as only part of our jobs. We're applying for a grant that would involve building a new site, and we could hire an outside person to work on it as a consultant/contractor.
Read moreHow to make Edition go LIVE on a particular hour?
Hi,
I'm setting up a newspaper site with the help of CCK node-reference, panels, views etc.
I have 2 basic content types: Story and Edition.
This daily newspaper is publishing 1 Edition each day. "Edition" is a content type consisting of many node-references containing Stories.
The basic content type is the Story. Roughly 20-30 are being submitted by columnists and journalists, but they must not be visible or searchable until the next day when the Edition goes live.
I need your help in sorting out how to:
Read morePCM Scheduling Rules for Individual, Series, and Filler Programs
Portland Community Media, in partnership with Denver Open Media, has created documents explaining the rules of scheduling Producer> Project> Programs. The document includes rules for series programs, scheduled on a quarterly basis, as well as individual programs that get scheduled on a first come, first served basis.
I have also included rules on how PCM schedules filler programs.
The focus of this discussion is:
- to communicate current scheduling rules and guidelines
- to discuss other methods of annual, quarterly or daily scheduling rules used by other media centers
PEGevent Live Demo
Thanks for the audio post Jason.
If anybody wants to get a better feel for PEGevent in action, I've got a live demo up at http://gmldev1.com/pet/
I've gotten some interest and good feedback from http://www.kua.com/
Drewish, there might be an easy way to integrate event repeat w/ PEGevent: each program airing is an event and could be scheduled using the power and wonder of event repeat I think.
Cheers.
Read moreBookings API and implementation module proposal
I want to create a Drupal module for visitors to book rooms or entire buildings. It's intended for buildings that have publicly-accessible meeting rooms, study rooms, or banquet halls. The module would be built to allow managers to use it in tandem with Google Calendar for greater flexibility: sometimes bookings are made or changed in-person, and Google Calendar is better suited for quick and visual edits. This would just be a single possible implementation; I intend to also create a generic booking API along with this.

I'm cross posting this because until I came across the PEG space Birds of a Feather session at DrupalCon I had no idea that there were two Drupal groupsworking on the resource and scheduling problems faced by community broadcasts. The other group had camouflaged themselves by using the insider name of PEG instead of something I'd have recognized like Public Access TV. Hopefully this can serve as the catalyst to get the two groups cross pollenating.
