Drupal 6.x. site Migration from MySQL to PostgreSQL (howto)
I'm not a MySQL fun, so some troubles with MySQL database (MyISAM data corruption and too slow InnoDB) force migration of three existing Drupal 6 sites from MySQL to PostgreSQL. Since Drupal 6.2 some PgSQL-related bugs (sample) in core modules has been fixed, so I have a try.
Drupal 6.5 and PostgreSQL 8.3 compatibility
Drupal Core Modules
I've installed clean Drupal 6.5 on top of PostgreSQL 8.3.3 (with UTF8 database encoding) and played with it a lot. There is no heavy troubles, only minor ones:

I try not to post support questions here....but I couldn't find any relevant posts on drupal.org....I have issues with a Drupal 5.10 site of mine where it seems to be over-loading the MySQL server. I get the odd (too common) "Unable to connect to database" screen that you get upon installing Drupal if you don't have the database setup and the settings.php files configured properly.
I certainly have that covered as the site is about 8 months old.

We are running RHEL5.1, Apache2, MySql5, PHP5 and have run into an issue. Our site runs find with normal usage, but if you hold the refresh (F5) key, then the site will crash. We have gotten it to the point that it will not crash the server, but it will take a while before the page responds (for any user). I know that this does not happen on other sites, so we are most likely missing a configuration setting somewhere. Here is what we have:
Apache
KeepAlive On
MaxKeepAliveRequests 100
KeepAliveTimeout 2
StartServers 8
MinSpareServers 5
MaxSpareServers 20
Drupal and connection pooling
Does Drupal support connection pooling,
transaction control,
connect and disconnect connections??

So, setup has been daunting, but i am still determined
all day now, i have been trying to get everything "server side" setup in ubuntu, and have had absolutely no luck at all. first, i installed xampp for linux, which used to be Lampp in a previous relaese; it was horrible. there was no way to actually reconfigure apache, or redirect the localhost with it actively running. so then it was onto lullabot for some assistance. ah-ha, i found a video which was great. i uninstalled xampp and was prepared to follow along on a fresh setup. so i opened synaptic, installed apache, php5, mysql, etc. and all went great, or so i thought.

Hello. We've got 15 subscribers to our Huntsville Drupal group, but we are still kind of dead. Let's figure out a way to build a community of Huntville (or North Alabama/Tennessee Valley) Drupal users.
First off, I'd like to invite everyone to the PHP/MySQL/LAMP users group of Huntsville meeting in two weeks. The meeting will take place at 7PM in Huntsville on July 27. While these meetings are usually held somewhere like "Barnhills Grill", the current meeting doesn't have an announced meeting place. However, http://codango.com is sponsoring the meeting and will provide drinks and pizza. Stay tuned to that group for a finalized meeting place.
Go here for more information about the the Huntsville PHP/MySQL/LAMP meetup: http://php.meetup.com/348/
Secondly, be sure to subscribe to the RSS feed for this Huntsville Drupal group: http://groups.drupal.org/node/1183/feed
Finally, feel free to post to this group about the Drupal projects you are working. I'm always interested in seeing what others are making. I've got a couple of projects that I will be sharing here in a short while.
By the way, I've had the pleasure to meet Tony Gettig, Mike Stinson, and Philip Reed (current Huntsville Drupal users). If we can't get together for a group meeting, maybe we can meet in smaller groups for lunch or coffee.
Anyone else have any ideas on building our Huntsville group?
