I can not seem to dig up the articles, but I do recall alot of talk about integrating Magento with Drupal or vice-versa to at least some level. Anyone who has knowledge of plans or actions that will / have been taken towards this please feel free to post.

I think the e-Commerce module is a good basis for a booking system. I would suggest, that we discuss how the e-Commerce module could be enhanced so that it can be used as a booking system.

For the use cases I can think of, a booking system consists of two parts:

1. Data modelling and presentation (themeing) of the object/service/thing that can be booked. This can be done with CCK.
2. Support of the booking workflow (booking, invoicing, get in contact with customers). Would be good if this was supported by e-Commerce.

Just posting a quick note to applicable groups regarding the initial beta release of Ubercart. The code has come a looong way from our first alpha, and we're quite happy with the community involvement and state of the code.

I'm running the stable version of eCommerce on Drupal 5.5 and I'm coming against some problems trying to configure it for file downloads. For example, when I try to purchase a file, it insists on asking for a shipping address. I can't seem to find the control panel to turn this off. Also, "quantity" is meaningless for file downloads, but I can't seem to figure out how to make it not ask you for that either. Are there built-in ways to handle these things? I can futz with the code myself, but I find it strange that the system wouldn't have some way to account for this kind of thing.

One of the Ecommerce sites I am building cannot ship to several states as they don't allow alcohol to be shipped in for various legal reasons, so I am trying to prevent transactions with a shipping address in one of those states from being completed with a checkoutapi hook.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to kick in when I try to checkout with a shipping address from one of these states - it lets me continue on to Paypal. Where am I going wrong?

I'm wondering how much work I'm looking at, to implement the following:

• customer customizes product by entering a Name and Phone Number. (these need to be different from the actual customer billing/shipping info) So far, I've only seen select-list options
• customer uploads a file that is a list (xls, txt, csv, etc.) at checkout, or attached to the product they've selected.
• shipping rates tiered by quantity. (1-20 = $5.00, 21-30 = $6.00, etc.)

I've tinkered with ecommerce for a bit, going through the tutorial at drupalecommerce.org, but I haven't found ways to do these requested things yet. I would gratefully appreciate any tips you might have on how to implement these.

I'm using Drupal 5.3 and ecommerce 5.x-3.4. Would 4.0 alpha do better for me?

A potential client recently approached me to ask for a quote on a site he wanted built. In short, the site is to be similar to http://ridesafely.com.

Ideally, I would prefer to base the site on Drupal. However, my quote will depend heavily on whether eCommerce has the capability and maturity to run auctions like would be needed here.

I have heard that auctions are a feature in the 4.x release. Is this true? And would the module be able to handle the type of auctions required here?

I appreciate any thoughts & comments!

Some people dont know but e-Commerce module now have its own site. It was only used to host the module API documentation but now its going to have tutorials, news, and some other things. The address is http://drupalecommerce.org. Currently, we will publish all news here on groups and there. If it works, we might adopt it as the main eC resource of information. Note: if you are a good web designer and want to give to eC a good looking site theme (Garland is nice, but it is Garland), you are welcome!

Also, you can contact the dev team directly almost at any time of the day on IRC. Go to channel #drupal-ecommerce on freenode.org. Its a real-time information. We will help you as much as we can. I, Massa, am almost all days and Gordon is almost all "nights" (once he is in Australia!). There are also many other people that can give some help there.
