Clarity on Google Maps terms of service, and alternatives
Hey, gang. While my site is in development, I'm using Google Maps for both geocoding and map display. But there are a few issues that might make that a poor choice for the production site:

Best solution for project in D7 using Address Field, Geocoder API, Geofield, Geolocation (w. Maps), Search API (Not Solr), Search facets, Search ranges and Search views
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for some guidance in regards to a current project i'm working on:
Details:
Display businesses for a certain city by using geo data, a proximity slider from a pre-defined center point (supplied by field in the entity, url or defined in the view) and predefined start radius (also defined in the view or by url) - closest distance to center point are displayed first - with distance to center point calculated.

MIT and Hacks/Hackers are hosting an OpenBlock hack-a-thon Oct. 30 at noon. Why should local Drupalists care?
OpenBlock by itself is an interesting news aggregator, but it's various components, which can be de-coupled, could be very cool, doing everything from auto-geotagging content, very customizable mapping, and much more. Tapping into these components could help a lot of Drupal sites I've seen.

Hello,
I am using the geocode module to add geodata to already existing location nodes on our site. To speed up the process of geocoding 3000+ nodes, I have enlisted the help of views bulk operations.

Hi all,
I've been enabling and disabling geo, location, geocoding and mapping modules for the last couple of days, but have not been able to find a combination allowing me implementing this with Drupal 6:
- a user should be able to either enter a new location by searching with its name and/or address, OR
- by pinpointing it on a map.
Path 1. Searching by name and/or address
- The search should start with a simple text field. The user enters a name of a place and maybe its address or parts of it.
geocoding from uk postcode, some issues I have been working on with Location Module
Hi,
I have a real estate website on drupal 6 using the Location module to collect the postcode, and use the UK database to store the lat/long to the node, and that works pretty well.
However I have had a couple of issues, which are that I am finding it difficult to make changes to the form that collects the Location on the new node form, and secondly I have a database of full postcodes (eg XX1 YY2) rather than the just the postal areas (eg XX1) given by the default Location postcode databases for the UK which I would like to make use of.

Hello,
I want to create a searchable Business Directory. I know how to do this using simple criteria like State and City. My current hurdle is figuring out how to do this by zipcode regions. I did some searching and found that there is a module called "Location" that touches on the concept but Im not sure if that is the way to go. DOes anyone here have any suggestions or has anyone else already done this? Thank you in advance.
Read moreXML country information
Hi folks, I found the countries_api module the other day as a replacement for the internal ubercart 'geocoding' functionality. I'm thinking after some more research that the location or address module would be a better use of time.
However, both of these modules are incomplete when it comes to full country code information. I'm thinking it'd be a good idea to abstract out the country information that currently exists in the .inc files. Discussion a few years back on some other mailing lists made an XML file similar to the following:
