DrupalCorn meeting 27Apr09 - Views 2
I'm going to make a shot at showing off the best of Views 2. Views is a big module that by intention is wholly abstract. Views deserves several days of discussions but we'll see how much I can pack into our two hour meeting.
Hope to see you then. Please sign-up.

DSM Web Geeks meeting about web application security
Hello, the Des Moines Web Geeks http://www.dsmwebgeeks.com/ will be meeting next Monday and the topic for this meeting is Web Application Security. The plan is to do some security analysis on live sites in order to demonstrate how the tools work. The content is targeted at all levels. A local security expert will be presenting.
If you'd like to offer your website for analysis please ensure you get your boss's permission first.
The location is at Impromptu Studios in down town Des Moines across MLK from the Science Center. You can get a map and driving directions from the Impromptu Studio page at http://impromptustudio.com/location/

I like the idea of a short module sharing session built into each meeting. How about we try this next time:
- 7-7:15pm - Social multi-discussions of modules of the month. "Check this out!"
- 7:15-7:30pm - Introductions, this way we get the stragglers too. "Hi. My name is Michael and I'm a Drupal-holic."
- 7:30 - 8pm Round Table single-discussion. Topic to be determined by attendees and allowed to flow freely. "I do it like this, how do you do it?"
- 8-9pm Formal presentation
TBD. Any volunteers? Be brave and bold! Volunteer someone else?Theming round table discussion lead by Dan DeGeest.

Iowa Drupal Users Group Meeting, "Bring a Friend Night" - January 26th 2009
Happy New Year! It feels like forever since we met last (53 days ago).
I'm excited to see new members. I know there are more Drupal'rs in Central Iowa, so let's make this next meeting a "Bring a Friend Night". Let's have a prize for the person who brings the most people. Any ideas?

Drupal on EC2 and a site build post-mortem
Travis Treadwell - travist - has loaded Drupal on Amazon's new Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) web service. He made all kinds of claims about all classic hosting companies going down the tubes and everything moving into the clouds. Although I think things will certainly change, the question remains if cloud computing is evolved enough yet. Travis made it clear he intends to take us all to the clouds.

We're on a roll! I usually really like to announce these meetings at least two weeks in advance. But I have been swamped.
So, our next meeting will be 29Sep08 at 7pm at iMed Studios.
Jeff has offered to discuss how he was able to access some none Drupal native data from his Drupal site. I don't know much more than that but Dan (on his behalf) has promised it to be a very interesting discussion.
