DrupalCon Munich

While still digesting all the info from DrupalCon Munich and day dreaming about Drupal 8 one aspect of DC Munich not yet reflected on our blog is FUN! yup it was a blast! (no not that kind…)… with a contingent of 6 we had plenty of it and Munich was most hospitable!

Today I've mostly been tidying up the marketing group home page, highlighting four topics we are currently canvassing for views on:

• What is it that Drupal does so well?
• Who are our "mindset" competitors that we need to overcome?
• Who are Drupal's competitors and what do they do particularly well?
• Who is Drupal's target group? What are their demographics? Psychographics?

Moin, kleiner Tipp noch für die Besucher der DrupalCon: am Bahnhof am einfachsten die IsarCard für Ring 1 und 2 kaufen, das reicht bis zum Konferenzhotel (liegt ausserhalb des Zentrums) plus natürlich für's Feierabendbier in der Innenstadt. Die Karte gibt's allerdings nur für Werktage, aber dafür kostet sie wenig (Montag bis Donnerstag ingesamt 12 Euronen).

Wer im MotelOne Ostbahnhof wohnt (sind glaub ein paar aus der Schweiz): Am Hauptbahnhof Tram 19 Richtung St. Veit, dann bis Station "Haidenauplatz".

On the Munich suburban main line between Pasing and Ostbahnhof (Munich East) is no service (closure of the track) on the first Drupalcon weekend from Friday 17 August 7.30 p.m to Monday 20 August 2012 4 a.m.

Best practice for Drupalcon attendees who will arrive at this first weekend and want to go to Arabellapark / Westin Grand:

Hoi hoi! I'm an American in Rotterdam for the summer and would appreciate a ride on the 20th of August. Of course I'd share expenses, and can also (legally) help drive.

(Ik kan ook wat Nederlands praten, maar waarschijnlijk uw Engels is heel beter. :-P)

"With the passing of the call for papers deadline last week DrupalCon Munich is now a hot topic. Witnessing a fever pitched last minute rush, we have well over 300 session proposals. It is now the role of the track chairs to evaluate submissions using the new selection process. You are encouraged to use comments to indicate sessions you would particularly like to see featured. Final conference program and pre-conference trainings will be announced May 29th via this web site."

The session selection process has changed, the track chairs are encouraging new speakers who have previous presenting experience at DrupalCamps, meetups or industry events to take the stage. Be quick, time is running out.

The planning of the Munich DrupalCon is already well advanced. The DrupalCon has never been as close to switzerland as this year and I am delighted that we have the opportunity to make a "Swiss DrupalCon" out of it. Numerous Swiss celebrities and Drupal companies are involved in the organization.

There are just two days left - until Friday 11 May 24:00h - to submit session proposals. Then the selection of the best sessions start.
