Views Slideshow and Firefox 3.6?
I am working on a new ISU departmental website, temporarily housed at http://cinnamon.cnde.iastate.edu
I am trying to use Views Slideshow to make a rotating banner picture, but the pictures will not display in Firefox 3.6
Everything is fine in FF4; IE 7,8,9; and Chrome 10. It even display fine on my android phone.
Any thoughts on why Firefox 3.6 might hate me so much?
Using firebug I see this near the top of the FF4 code: html class="js activeSlide" lang="en" xml:lang="en" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"
and this in the 3.6 source code:

I've got a new site that's using the D6 GMap module along with Location. It does a nice job of showing me locations of users and nodes, thus far. However, I'd like to show the location of an event (this event is the subject of the entire website) on ALL the GMap's I generate whether for users, nodes, whatever. I only dabble in javascript enough to know that I can add the marker I want using something like this:
map.addOverlay(new GMarker(GLatLng(40.86997,-92.91825)); // my addition
Read more Menus and un-published pages
Our site is using panels and some custom content types. We're creating a new area to the site that we don't want the world to see but we do want to QA. The obvious way is to leave pages unpublished but this causes the pages to not appear in the menus at all (even for people who have permission to view unpublished pages). This makes it very difficult to QA since the navigation on these pages uses some special code.
Does anyone have a suggestion that makes it easier to demo this without opening it up to the world?

Read moreNew to Drupal, would like a static site look and feel
I just installed Drupal 7 and after playing with it for a little while, I have tons of questions. I live here in Ames where you guys meet. Is there a good resource you can point me to to create a Drupal site that looks like a static site? Like on the homepage, I don't want people to sign in. I'd really like to have a static site look and feel for one portion, a blog on another portion, and possibly a forum on another. My current site (which needs help badly) can be found here.

Our first Drupal based site is almost ready to go live. So far, Drupal has been a very powerful and fun environment to work in. We've started with the Open Publish distribution of Drupal, and have made a number of customizations to meet our needs, primarily in creating a sub-theme based on the Open Publish theme, and adding, removing, and configuration of modules. And of course blocks, views, and contexts.

Hey all!
Hope Christmas was great and Happy 2011!
In the past, we've sponsored development of a few modules, but those have always been added under the developer's drupal ID. Now, we've got a module the community chipped in $1,000 for and we've submitted it to be added...on December 3rd.
I know things are busy for the volunteers approving modules with D7 and all, but will it ever get approved?
Here it is: http://drupal.org/node/988244
Any ideas or feedback from others who have been through the module approval process appreciated!

How do most people approach updating core on their sites? My instinct is to wait 2 weeks after a release for people to come across any problems and to give maintainers time to release patches for the major modules. Is that reasonable or is the core code so rock-solid that I am waiting for no good reason?

Soundslides http://www.soundslides.com/ is desktop software that will generate a Flash slideshow from a set of images and an MP3 file. It seems to be pretty popular with news organizations and communications offices around here. The software creates a "publish_to_web" folder which contains the swf and several directories of resources (sized images, mp3 files, settings, etc). What is the best way to allow a user upload this folder to the server and attach it to a node?

I am trying to implement a slideshow for the front page of a website.
I spent a few days trying to work with various versions of views slideshow ddblock, which turned into a cluster better forgotten.
My hope is to create a block around 650px wide by 330px high.
The object has 5 parts:
- background image
- destination to send to if clicked
- citation of where the image came from
- Header
- text block
