Chicago's local community of various user groups focused on Drupal. Groups have meetings each month in/around Chicago. Please be sure to join our group if interested in posting or hearing about Drupal-related job opportunities in the Chicagoland area.
The Drupal Chicago Meetup Group holds meetups on various topics and networking opportunities. Presentations and speakers are aimed at a general audience, with site show-and-tells, module demonstrations, news and announcements, and question and answer sessions.
If you live or work in the suburbs, check out the Fox Valley Drupal Meetup group with topics for all users.
Volunteers in the Chicago Drupal Group also organize MidCamp - Midwest Drupal Camp. Drupal camps are multi-day events that can include training days, session days, code and documentation sprints, and social events. Held annually in March, MidCamp is quickly becoming one of the larger and prestigious Drupal camps due to its high level of speakers, content, accessibility, and attention to detail.
Did we mention, the Chicago Drupal community has active and ongoing community discussions going on can be found at https://midcamp.slack.com.

March 15th is a Drupal training day: http://drupal.org/learn-drupal
A lot of us are professional Drupalers with day jobs so it's difficult to participate.
However, Chris Shattuck of http://buildamodule.com/ will open up all his Drupal training videos for free on Friday.
We should direct people to #CADUG on Freenode IRC and take turns monitoring the chat for people who have questions as they learn remotely that day.
Michelle has set up a google doc for people to register their interest: http://bit.ly/WLkLvC.

Greetings, Drupal Fans!
This month's JoomlaChicago-Loop meeting features a comparison of Drupal and Joomla (and a little bit of Wordpress). This is a free event this coming Thursday, Jan. 24, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. that takes place in downtown Chicago at 200 S. Wacker Drive.
Please note that you have to register in advance: Do so at http://joomlachicagoloop.com .

VOPDUG: Oak Park Contributor Wind Sprint during Feature Completion Phase
Announcing the 3rd Village of Oak Park Drupal User Group meetup. This is open to all, and especially welcoming to those of any ages (we had 2 under 18 and 2 over 50 at the last one). It's a contributor meetup so we run it like a wind sprint. People are paired with others of similar experience, from needing to set up a local environment, to writing patches, and help is available finding issues that are good matches. Please bring a laptop, and if you are bringing small children with you (which is totally ok), bring ipod like devices, snacks, and/or quiet toys for them.
