Chicago's local community of various user groups focused on Drupal. Groups have meetings each month in/around Chicago. Please be sure to join our group if interested in posting or hearing about Drupal-related job opportunities in the Chicagoland area.
The Drupal Chicago Meetup Group holds meetups on various topics and networking opportunities. Presentations and speakers are aimed at a general audience, with site show-and-tells, module demonstrations, news and announcements, and question and answer sessions.
If you live or work in the suburbs, check out the Fox Valley Drupal Meetup group with topics for all users.
Volunteers in the Chicago Drupal Group also organize MidCamp - Midwest Drupal Camp. Drupal camps are multi-day events that can include training days, session days, code and documentation sprints, and social events. Held annually in March, MidCamp is quickly becoming one of the larger and prestigious Drupal camps due to its high level of speakers, content, accessibility, and attention to detail.
Did we mention, the Chicago Drupal community has active and ongoing community discussions going on can be found at https://midcamp.slack.com.
DrupalCorn Camp 2012 makes local news
I was interviewed by Jessica Miller yesterday about our up coming camp DrupalCorn Camp 2012. You can read it on Ames.Patch.com

It's time to register. A little bird told me they are going to raise the price as the camp approaches.

CDMUG July 2012 Meet Up "Summer Social" Wed 18th @ 6:00pm
RSVP @ http://drupal.meetup.com/1
Wednesday July 18th 2012 @ 6:00pm
Let's face it, Chicago only has so many days in the summer. This results in summer attendance for meetups always being low. We'll meet outside at O'Donovan's Pub which has free parking lot, outdoor bar, food, and wifi for a purely social gathering. We'll be hanging out from 6:00pm until about 9:00pm. No presentations will be planned.

Please join us VIRTUALLY on Monday July 9th at 8:00pm central time to start discussions for our 5th annual DrupalCamp Chicago. We'll be meeting in our #cdmug IRC channel on Freenode. If you have time, join us a bit earlier and let us know how you can help. If you're late, no worries, some of us will be online for at least a few hours.

We have a handful of accomplished Drupalers here in Michiana, including bdawg8569, Slurpee, Brandonian and danthewolfe. If you are in southern Michigan, Chicagoland or northern Indiana, would you be interested in a meetup? We would be glad to host in our Mishawaka office, and we're open to other venues as well. What would you like to learn and/or share?

Join fellow Drupalers for a day of coding and camaraderie. Intended for freelancers, telecommuters, or those who just want to get out of the office for a day, coworking is a time where we can get our own stuff done in the company of others (and hopefully help each other along the way).
We'll be at the Next Door Cafe (659 W Diversey) from 9am to 5pm on July 20th (since the Midwest Developer Summit is the following week) I've reserved the Blue Room (in the back on the right), which has a conference table, but there are plenty of other work areas if you need to run solo for a bit.

I'm having difficulty finding any information outside of IRC for the DrupalCamp Chicago 2012. Therefore, a discussion about the current steps being taken for DCC2012 should be logged here. We definitely need to come together to organize initiatives/goals for any code sprints for before or after the camp. It would also be good to hear from any parties that will be holding training sessions around the camp.

June will be our last meetup with presentations until August since our July meetup is purely an outdoor gathering at a restaurant/bar. For this special occasion we decided to have round 2 of our "Server and Performance Day". Server nerds Matthew Lechleider and Andrew Kucharski are back along with new speaker Greg Palmier. We lined up three presenters about exciting server technology in the Drupal world plus updated trivia questions!

So following the awesome DrupalCamp Twin Cities on May 18-19, 2012 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, Jess (xjm), Tim Plunkett (tim.plunkett) and Joe Shindelar (eojthebrave) will be running a sprint aimed at helping anyone and everyone get involved in Drupal core development.

Drupal Coworking Friday
After a two-month hiatus, I'm hoping to get this to be a regular thing:
Join fellow Drupalers for a day of coding and camaraderie. Intended for freelancers, telecommuters, or those who just want to get out of the office for a day, coworking is a time where we can get our own stuff done in the company of others (and hopefully help each other along the way). I've reserved the Kitchen Table (since neither of the rooms were available), but there's lots of other seating areas depending on your working style. Since there's a cafe on-site no outside food is allowed.
