Chicago's local community of various user groups focused on Drupal. Groups have meetings each month in/around Chicago. Please be sure to join our group if interested in posting or hearing about Drupal-related job opportunities in the Chicagoland area.
The Drupal Chicago Meetup Group holds meetups on various topics and networking opportunities. Presentations and speakers are aimed at a general audience, with site show-and-tells, module demonstrations, news and announcements, and question and answer sessions.
If you live or work in the suburbs, check out the Fox Valley Drupal Meetup group with topics for all users.
Volunteers in the Chicago Drupal Group also organize MidCamp - Midwest Drupal Camp. Drupal camps are multi-day events that can include training days, session days, code and documentation sprints, and social events. Held annually in March, MidCamp is quickly becoming one of the larger and prestigious Drupal camps due to its high level of speakers, content, accessibility, and attention to detail.
Did we mention, the Chicago Drupal community has active and ongoing community discussions going on can be found at https://midcamp.slack.com.
Drupal developers/companies and salesforce for webiste project
The Latino Policy Forum is looking to hire a website developer/company to rehaul our website, preferably that has some knowledge of Salesforce as we'd like to integrate the too systems. My understanding is that Drupal works best with the Saleforce CMS system. Budget is $12,000-$15,000
I'm attaching a RFP and sample site map to provide a little bit more information about our needs.
My apologies is this is not the appropriate space to post these types of requests and if anyone has any recommendations - I welcome them

Need help with a theme problem
I need some help with a theme problem.
I'm getting a horizontal scroll bar and I can't figure out where it's coming from. The site is a fixed-width and should render at 1000px. The page seems to think it's 1897px wide. The site is http://prussingelementary.org and is a Zen child theme.
If you can see the problem quickly, please let me know what I've done!
If you're a theming expert, I'd be happy to buy a bit of your time. Let me know what you'd charge.
Thanks much!

Read moreContent assigned to multiple groups won't appear under organic groups home tab
Hi all,
While creating a new blog node in Drupal commons, I assign two organic groups to it. While it appears under both groups' Blog tab (view group_tab_blogs), it only appears under one group's Home tab (view activity_log_stream).
Any suggestions?

Join fellow Drupalers for a day of coding and camaraderie. Intended for freelancers, telecommuters, or those who just want to get out of the office for a day, coworking is a time where we can get our own stuff done in the company of others (and hopefully help each other along the way).
We'll be at the Next Door Cafe (659 W Diversey) from 9am to 5pm on August 31st. I've reserved one of the larger tables in the center area for the day, but there are plenty of other work areas if you need to run solo for a bit.

Lightning Talks
Attendees are encouraged to present for 10 minutes on a topic of their choosing. Show off a recent project, get audience feedback for your next big idea, demo a cool new module, give a marketing case study or just talk about anything else Drupal related. No slides or presentation skills are required. Short yet informative talks are the goal.
Read moreBash Aliases
I can't imagine administering drupal without drush. I've set up some aliases in my bash profile. I've become so dependent on these, that I synchronize my alias.sh file through bitbucket. For example, the function drupre will put the site in offline mode, run cron, clear cache, and then put the site back in online mode. The other is drubackup which will save the file structure and database dump to a date based file structure.
Does anyone have any other alias commands to speed up work flow?

Read moreSomething to think about in terms of Accessibility
So, personally, I don't dabble much in Accessibility and don't know much about it. It's definitely on my list of things to get into, but as you can imagine for any developer, that list is very long. That being said, I saw something really cool today and automatically thought - Accessibility.
I try to make a habit of looking for innovation outside of Drupal community. So obviously, I troll github.com/explore. And I found this nifty little stylesheet:

[DCC12] Should this year's camp have an overall theme?
At the kickoff meeting for this year's planning earlier in the month, it was suggested that we might want to have an overall theme for this year's DrupalCamp Chicago.
Some of the suggested topics were:
- distributions
- Drupal 8
- responsive design
- multilingual Drupal
In my mind, having an overall theme is a good idea for both potential presenters and attendees. The trick will be choosing the right one!

Now, I'm not saying we all start airing our dirty laundry for the entire internet to see. Any group of passionate people will have internal conflicts.
However, there has been recent activity, primarily related to the planning of DrupalCamp Chicago, that has been occurring in IRC and Basecamp. While both tools are valuable, they severely limit participation of the Chicago Drupal community as a whole.

Training in Chicago? Not in Drupal but related technologies
Hey Folks ->
Some folks with whom I work are looking for training classes in webish technologies and I thought people here might have some leads for worth-it training vendors.
I was looking for classes in javascript & HTML 5 and PhoneGap (the cross-platform DMA construction environment)
thanks for any leads!
