Chicago

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Chicago's local community of various user groups focused on Drupal. Groups have meetings each month in/around Chicago. Please be sure to join our group if interested in posting or hearing about Drupal-related job opportunities in the Chicagoland area.

The Drupal Chicago Meetup Group holds meetups on various topics and networking opportunities. Presentations and speakers are aimed at a general audience, with site show-and-tells, module demonstrations, news and announcements, and question and answer sessions.

If you live or work in the suburbs, check out the Fox Valley Drupal Meetup group with topics for all users.

Volunteers in the Chicago Drupal Group also organize MidCamp - Midwest Drupal Camp. Drupal camps are multi-day events that can include training days, session days, code and documentation sprints, and social events. Held annually in March, MidCamp is quickly becoming one of the larger and prestigious Drupal camps due to its high level of speakers, content, accessibility, and attention to detail.

Did we mention, the Chicago Drupal community has active and ongoing community discussions going on can be found at https://midcamp.slack.com.

Help going from single site to BOA.

I've made a few Drupal websites which are hosted in several different shared servers. Due to the size and resources some of them require, the company where I work has agreed to buy a VPS (Linode).

As a newbie to Aegir/BOA/Unix (in general), I was wondering what's the best way to understand the system?

I had previously installed BOA but was confused by the file structure in my Unix box. Furthermore, I do not understand the development workflow that everyone boasts about with Aegir/git.

Drupal Ladder sprints?

Hey there!

I've probably met a few of you, but for the rest, I'm Brock Boland. I live over in DC, and I'm involved in the Drupal Ladder initiative: http://drupalladder.org

The gist of it is that we're working to get more people involved in contributing to core, with a goal of 1% of drupal.org users contributing to Drupal core by summer 2014.

There are two main ways that we're working to achieve that goal:

  1. Learn sprints, where we work through lessons on DrupalLadder.org
  2. Issue sprints, where we work on issues from the Drupal core issue queue

g.d.o/chicago landing page info is all about CDMUG

CDMUG is awesome - but why is g.d.o/chicago homepage landing only about CDMUG and upcoming CDMUGs?

Should it not include information about Chicago's entire Drupal community?

Also, CDMUG is never listed under 'Group Events' but the other meetups often are.

I like having the meetups under group events because I can easily add them to my iCal and its more organized.

I've talked to some people who are confused why there isn't information about the other meetups on g.d.o/chicago and I've directed them to look at the sidebar.

Migrate a site from D5 to D7

I may have an opportunity to migrate a site from D5 to D7.

This is one of those " If it were done when 'tis done, then 'twere well. It were done quickly" situations, so speed and accuracy would be of the essence.

The site is http://amaaonline.com. If you're interested, please take a look and email me with an estimated cost and timeline, plus some info about other migrations you've done. My preference is to use someone in Chicago; I want to talk to you face to face and probably introduce you to the client.
