Welcome to the Drupal Ottawa User Group. We will use this group to develop the Drupal community in Ottawa, to plan local events (DrupalCamps, informal get-togethers, etc.) and to share success stories and planned / completed drupal implementations. Public servants (this is Ottawa after all) interested in deploying bilingual / Common Look & Feel compliant governmental web sites will find colleagues in this group facing the same challenges related to the introduction of drupal in the federal government.

Hey folks,
I started working at Acquia a while back and have been amazed by the breadth and depth of the on-going activities/projects. I was also quite surprised to learn about various partnership models that I was unaware of, but that appear to be real "win-win" scenarios.
In fact, a friend of mine was commenting on how Acquia was a "king maker" as a result of the amount of business that it can drive towards its development partners. In fact, he was complaining that his shop wasn't "on Acquia's radar" and so hadn't benefitted from a "bump".

For the most part, you add new functionality with third party modules (known as contributed modules) that can be downloaded from Drupal.org. At some point you may find limitations. You may want to modify functionality in a contributed module or core. You may want to move your configuration to code, or access an external data source.
