Read moreComparison of product shops
It seems that there is a desire from folks to be able to buy "official" Drupal products of various sorts. CafePress works OK, but doesn't really work great outside the US (too expensive).
This is a request to compile a list of such product shops, make a list of pros and cons, and recommend 2 - 3. Please edit this wiki directly.
- monthly cost of running shop
- typical margin / profit per item
- types of products available (e.g. t-shirts, pins, etc.)
- countries supported / typical shipping costs to different countries
- other basics we should find out from each store?
Proposal: End of Life the Gmap Macro
Hello mappers,
I have a proposal that I think will make the gmap module stronger, but I wanted to solicit other opinions before I start writing the patch.
I recently was working on two additional gmap functionalities for a client: the first was the ability to load KML files located at an offsite URL as overlays, and the other was a "click to add nodes" functionality so that users could add images by simply clicking on their locations on a gmap.
In both cases I started trying to build my functionality as add modules to gmap. This quickly broke down as I discovered the macro processing was hard coded and not easy to work with. Additionally, I attempted to modify the gmap module itself, but again working with the macro processing was such a headache that I abandoned that idea as well. Finally, I developed these tools as stand alone JavaScript additions, with not UI in Drupal. Not an optimal situation, but I had to get these features out in a reasonable time frame.
I've been thinking about my experience since then, and I have come to the following conclusion: the gmap macro hinders development of the gmap module and prevents additional module development. Therefore, it should be discontinued in favor of a simpler, UI and data model driven alternative, similar to Views.

Just to bring Robin's link to the forefront, the June 2007 newsletter skeleton wiki is at http://groups.drupal.org/node/4075.
It was buried in one of Robin's comments, and I think it'd be more straightforward if it was given more exposure in the Newsletter group.
I've done a preliminary look-over of the content, and I like it. I'll be writing up a short recap of DrupalCamp Toronto.

Greetings.
I am a volunteer fund raiser on the Board of the Drupal Association. We are working on better integration between the main Drupal.org website and the association.drupal.org website. One of the obvious things we are working on first is a 'Spotlight' image for the Drupal association - these are the graphics that show up in the rounded box on the upper right of drupal.org; 'Drupal Planet' 'Security Announcements' etc.
Read moreSeen Any Good UI Lately?
In the quest to bring book.module to the next level as outline.module in Drupal 6.0, we're confronting some UI questions. Currently the form for adding a post to a book hierarchy becomes unworkable for sites with lots of book nodes (e.g. drupal.org). We need something more innovative than a simple dropdown for this new release. But what?
I'm a big believer in taking advantage of the state of the art, and I know there's a lot of interesting stuff out there online already.

Read morecommunity.civicrm.ca directory
I registered civicrm.ca some time ago because it was available, and have just gotten around to setting up a basic 5.1 install with the links module on the community subdomain with the goal of having a directory of Canadian organization installs of Civicrm.
So - if you are a developer or site administrator of a Canadian organization using civicrm - please add yourself to the directory! I've left the registration open for now, but I'll probably have to moderate it when the new breed of drupal comment spammers discover me.
