Is there a drush command to add a platform to aegir
I noticed there were a number of drush provision commands to backup, deploy backup, and install sites but I could not workout if there was a provision command to create a new platform within the Aegir environment? Does anyone know if this commands exist?

Can Aegir be installed on a non-standard port. I have ngnix running on port 80 with another application?

But this is exactly what I've done and what I can see within the file.
What am I doing wrong?

Shared logfiles?
Hi there,
I'd like to have shared logfiles from the apache.
At the moment, aegir is putting all my logfiles together in a big one.
But I'd prefer two logfiles for each vhost: vhost-access.log and vhost-error.log
Is there a setting for this I oversaw?

Passing data from the Aegir signup form to your install profile
This post describes how to have data entered in the Aegir site be useable in your install profile. The way this works now still feels quite hacky and probably won't stay like this forever. If anyone has better suggestions please post in the comments :).
For anyone with a slightly customized aegir setup, passing data from aegir to your install profile is a must. In Wedful (my own business running on top of Drupal w/ Aegir) our aegir site signup form looks like this:

Is there an integeration with AWS EC2 / EBS? Eg. for backup / restore. I use this script for my backups:

I do have SSL running and manually going to the HTTPS pages, I am trying to achieve smart switching so that certain pages are switched to https on the fly. Most importantly cart/checkout, but also user/login.

Aegir install fails at last step - drush hostmaster-install fails with mysql errors
Hi all,
I'm installing Aegir on my Workstation Ubuntu 8.10.
The workstation has been acting fine as my dev box, apache, mysql and php all working fine.
The installation at described in the install.txt file
has been followed to the letter, as far as I can see.
The directory at /var/aegir seems to be installed fine and a setting.php is generated at
/var/aegir/hostmaster-0.4-alpha14/sites/ubuntu-dell/setting.php

Schedule a cron-job per site
Would it not be nice if one could schedule access to /cron.php from aegir?
parameters would be the parameters one could enter at the crontab:
minute, hour, day-of-month, month, day-of-week
Aegir does not clone/migrate/BACKUP correctly because of file permissions
I've notice several modules, including cores upload.module, upload files with the permissions 600... which aegir cant read. These files never get moved or backed-up during aegir processes. I always have to chown/chmod files before doing a clone or backup.
This is a huge pain in the rear.
How is everyone dealing with this? Is everyone just not using drupals upload module?

DNS support in Aegir!
I worked on slave DNS support in the dev-dns branch tonight. I had trouble with the service stuff, but I got over it and I can happily announced that we crossed a significant milestone in DNS support:
We now have basic DNS support in Aegir!
There is still a ton of work to do, but it is the bare minimum for a basic setup:
- Creating a site creates a "A" record (and a zone, if necessary)
- Deleting a site deletes that record (and that zone, if empty)
- Zone creation and deletion are configured on slave servers
- Basic commandline utilities exist to manipulate the zonefiles
- Manual edits to zonefiles are not kept
Unable to add a new client (one of the content type)
Shouldn't it be possible to create a new client by using node/add/client?
I get an access denied page at both admin or account-manager role.
Is this how it is ment to be, or is it a bug?

Aegir 0.4 Alpha 14 released
The Aegir project would like to present our 0.4 alpha 14 release. This release is primarily a bug fix release, fixing yet more problems relating to site imports, but more importantly restoring the redirect functionality that was disabled in the previous alphas. It also contains some code cleanup and drupal 7 compatibility fixes.
This is the final release before the DNS feature branch is merged in.

Problems verifying Drupal 5
Hey,
I spent this weekend setting up Aegir. Really nice I must say, this thing will be a real life safer for future projects. I am running it on Ubuntu 10 (64 bit) and I can deploy Drupal 6 and 7 sites with ease. Unfortunately I cannot for the life of me get Druapl 5 verified, I keep running into the same issue:
