Best Method(s) to use for automated Newsletter creation for my drupal 6 site

First of all, Howdy. I am a noob. I have been webmastering a Drupal site for my church Live Oak Friends Meeting since sometime in 2010 when I inherited it from the original webmaster. I went to the last users group meeting and enjoyed meeting a few of you. I am a CMS developer in real life for MD Anderson Cancer Center. I am having some difficulty meeting the needs of my users with Drupal.

Best Way to do this? Inputs
Okay as I stated in my last Drupal Meet-up (I'm a Droob!) I am working on my first Drupal site, and what I am looking into doing is for example, when I create articles on newsworthy stuff - that it would get put or I can select the appropriate location it should be a sub-category of. As of now when I save an article it would do a node/2 (but I had to type in the url field like daw/ghdc-banquet-2011-success. So if I want to have a way of picking what subcategory the article is to be under - how do I go about doing that? Thoughts?
Any feedback would be appreciated!

We have a projector with a VGA cable. For all Mac users, if you wish to use the projector, please make sure you have the appropriate adaptor! The only one that I have is for a newer-ish MacBook Pro, and it does NOT fit all Macs.

Hey everybody!
Mark your calendars! We meet again on Thursday, Aug. 25th at 7pm till 9pm at Caroline Collective (4820 Caroline, Houston 77004)
Last meeting in July we talked about suggesting some topics to present at the meetings, those don't have to be a full hour, anything from 15min to 60min, and then we can all do a Q&A on those topics and share knowledge.
Drupalers in 中部 area?
I'll be in the Nagoya/Gifu area from August 4th-16th. I see a lot of Druapl activity in Kanto and Kansai, but little mention of central Honshu. Anyone in the Nagoya area? I'd like to meet anyone in that area, at least once while I'm there.
I live in Houston and I'm normally part of the HDUG there. Maybe we could build some sort of bridge?
My Japanese is almost non-existant (but I DO speak intermediate conversational Mandarin Chinese and I can read/write 漢字), but I've got Kotoba on my iPhone (which I JUST used to look up "質問"), so if you're willing to meet, I am.
