Hello Drupalers,
LonDUG (The London Ontario Drupal Users Group) is now on Meetup! Please join the LonDUG group on Meetup to RSVP for our next event and stay informed of upcoming LonDUG events.
Bugs and Patches: Giving Back
As part of an ongoing effort to organize a London code sprint, we'd like to use our next meeting to have an informal discussion on how to be helpful members of the Drupal community.
From testing and reporting bugs, to formulating a solution and submitting it as a patch, right through to testing and even documentation, there's a role for people of every skill level and discipline.
We'll also discuss the possibility of a hands-on project we could use to make some of the discussions more relevant.
Hope to see you there!

Just wanted to let all the surrounding areas know that if you're looking for a DrupalCamp that's only a few hours away, we have one waiting at DrupalCamp Montreal 2009: The Education Edition. It's taking place at McGill University on October 17th-18th. We're happy to say that Webchick will be presenting a session or two! We have over 80 attendees already registered and are growing at nearly 10 sign-ups per day!
Read moreSept Meeting - Drupal 7
With the recent code freeze on Drupal 7, it seems an ideal time to talk about what's coming in the next major release.
We'll install a fresh copy copy and kick the tires, but we'll also talk about some of the changes under the hood that may not be evident, at least not until modules are written or updated to take advantage of the new features. We'll also talk about some of the features still in development, that hopefully will see enough love from the community to make it into the final release.

It's almost that time again, so I thought I'd see if anyone had any hot topics they wanted to discuss for a Drupal meet-up this week. Anyone?

Just discovered Drupal's Bug Bingo - it's a link that takes you to a random open bug in either Drupal Core or Contributed Code:

Since the date of our regular meetings falls this month on the same day as the London Web Developers Summer Shindig, it's a perfect opportunity for us to connect with the larger London web community. RSVP at:

June meeting
It's that time again already! Given that summer meetings tend to be a bit more sparsely attended, I'd propose we hold to the same time and venue but make this month's meeting more casual, just an open forum to discuss what's on the minds of our local Drupal users. Come on out, ready to talk about whatever happy discovery or vexing issue has surfaced in your use of Drupal lately. For any new users out there, this is an ideal time to get help with your questions. See you there!

Last month's meeting at Poacher's Arms seemed to work out well for everyone, so we'll plan to return for this month's meeting. Jeremy Richardson of rTraction will be talking about the 10 essential Drupal modules, ones their team use on almost every project. It should be an interesting discussion for people with a broad range of Drupal experience, so I hope we'll see you all there.

April Meeting - Zen Theming
Our April meeting is a wholly different approach from previous meetings. A new day (Thursday), a new location (The Poacher's Arms), and a structured presentation. The topic this time around will be theming with Zen, a topic that has come up in all of the previous meeting. Please bring your questions (or your experience) as we discuss how developing custom themes start with Zen can be a great way to develop cross-browser, W3C-valid code for your site.
Also, plan to stick around for some informal discussion afterwards.
Read moreModule: Transfer Full nodes from a drupal site to another drupal site
Hello All,
I had been working for couple of days on a module that would allow me to transfer nodes from a Drupal Website to another drupal site (for now).
which includes a full node save along with terms,files and CCK extra fields.
its really been a headache since i started patching the method "taxonomy_node_save" in "taxonomy services";
i have done the step of save a node (piece of cake) but now into the terms problem hence the NID of the new transferred node needs to be send to the remote server.
ill keep you updated guys on it and might release a contribution soon.
Read moreZen Reference
The folks at Palantir have been kind enough to post some handy Drupal reference cards:
http://www.palantir.net/blog/free-scratch-n-sniff-stickers-zen-plus-prin...
The Zen reference card in particular looks particularly handy.
Speaking of which, since Zen has been a repeated topic of discussion at our meetings, how about a presentation on theming Drupal using Zen for our next meeting?

It's that time again already! We have a new locale for the February thanks to the <shameless-plug>supreme generosity and technological farsightedness of Echidna Solutions</shameless-plug>. Next week's meeting will be held at:
207 King St., on the same block as Novack's and the Goodlife headquarters.
The suggested topic is a show-and-tell of your favourite Drupal module, so pick one and be prepared to talk for a bit why you like it.
Read moreDrupal 7 mini hackathon?
Just a thought,
Maybe we can organize a Drupal 7 mini-hackathon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hackathon), where we meet with the intention to bring D7 closer to release by looking at Drupal 7 Issues (http://drupal.org/project/issues?projects=3060&states=8,13,14&versions=1...) and attempting to close some of them.
This would require a lot of prep work, but could be a lot of fun and would definitely grow our understanding of the inner workings of Drupal.
Prep work would include:
Read morejQuery Browser Detection
Hey Everyone,
Here's the jQuery to detect browser version. This one would look for Internet Explorer 6 and add a css style to "SOME-UNIQUE-ID"
if (jQuery.browser.msie) {
if(parseInt(jQuery.browser.version) == 6) {
$('#SOME-UNIQUE-ID').css('property','value');
}
}
It will detect;
* safari
* opera
* msie
* mozilla
Hopefully you can put that to use. I'm in the process of trying to get it to detect if the user is on an iPhone or not.
Cheers,
Anthony

We'll hold our first meeting this coming Thursday, Jan 22, in study room 3A of the London Central Library. It's not a very large room, so please arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Just to give all of you an update, I think we're pretty close to working out a deal where we'll be able to meet in a room at the Arts Project, right downtown on Dundas. The catch is, it sounds like it may take some approvals and so on, and I don't know if we'll be able to get it arranged in time for next week, when I was hoping we could start our meetings (it's looking like the third Thursday of every month will work best for everyone).
