Open Media Playback Servers Release Committed

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Just committed a release of the om_playback_servers module we've been working on. The idea is to place all playback server specific code into one central location. Before installing the modules, you must have created a channel taxonomy and a properly formatted channel feed. After configuring the module, om_playback_servers_add_airings and om_playback_servers_update_schedule should become functional for use in development. All new work being done in scheduling uses this module and these functions. Hopefully, this will send this area of the project down a clean and easy to use path. The module currently supports functionality for both Tightrope Cablecast and Telvue Princeton servers. om_playback_servers_princeton also contains kreynen's missing_file_listener.php for assigning bulk file transfers to cron jobs rather than on scheduling. I look forward to your feedback.

Is there a release? Should I use this?

I'm not seeing any releases on the module page. I see in CVS there's a 6.x-1.x branch, but looks like you have not tagged any release. Did you intend to, or is the code not quite ready yet?

I am about to start working on scheduling at BAVC using an openmedia distro that was set up this past Spring. They use a Telvue Princeton, and want the Drupal server co-located elsewhere. So I'm wondering if I should just jump on the om_playback_servers train, or try to get it working with the code we have.

Would really appreciate any guidance here!

Hi, I'm new to running

Hi,

I'm new to running project pages on d.org, and so I meant for there to be a release, but haven't figured out exactly how to do that. There are a few errors in the Open Media Playback Servers (OPS) Princeton code (specifically in some of the SOAP fields). Tomorrow, my first priority is to clean up OPS Princeton, and to address some of kreynen's issues. I hope to commit a better release tomorrow, or Friday afternoon. I'd hold on and use that. Looking forward to more feedback on OPS! Thanks.

The only site using a Telvue

The only site using a Telvue in a remote configuration is http://www.okv.se/. OKV is using the om_timeslot_remote module I started at BAVC to pass the scheduling commands to a script similar to ffmpeg_wrapper_remote's encode.php on a middle man server. That script needs to be on server that has access to the Telvue's VOL1 share. That remote logic isn't in om_playback_server yet.

I'm planning on moving OKV to om_playback_servers, but there are a few features missing. om_playback_servers also combined the creation of airings with the creation of shows. To be useful, I need those functions separated so an existing show can be scheduled without an error or a show can be inserted without scheduling it.

Leo has indicated he is going to make more commits at the end of the week. I'm hoping to move OKV to om_playback_servers within the next 2 weeks.

Should hit the initial
