Was great to see everyone at the Alliance for Community Media conference. In an effort to improve communication between everyone working on this project, or tools related to this project, Open Flows agreed to host an Open Media group on their SILC (encrypted irc) server. The server is emma.openflows.com, and the channel is #om. There are already a few people living in there and we would love to see as many people available as possible. There are several SILC ready clients, for osx there is colloquy . On Windows Pidgin works (http://www.pidgin.im/).

SILC connection problems with Colloquy
I've talked to a few people who have had problems connecting to the SILC server this week who were able to connect last week. I had to delete the Colloquy Application Support folder (/Users/Username/Library/Application Support/Colloquy) to get my laptop to connect.
useful info, thanks
If that is how you fixed it, my bet is that one of the keys stored in /Users/Username/Library/Application Support/Colloquy/Silc became damaged
if you have this problem again, start by removing the contents of
/Users/Username/Library/Application Support/Colloquy/Silc/Server Keys
if that does not work, remove (force colloquy to recreate) your public and private key
/Users/Username/Library/Application Support/Colloquy/Silc/private_key.prv
/Users/Username/Library/Application Support/Colloquy/Silc/public_key.pub
see you in the channel!
scheduled downtime tomorrow (wed, july 23)
the openflows silc server will be down for a couple hours tomorrow night as the data center hosting the machine moves to a new location. The silc network will still be accessible but you will have to log into one of the other servers in the network (dirt.mayfirst.org, silc.annares.net) for those few hours.
