Welcome to the Minneapolis/St. Paul Drupal Group -- the place to get involved with the Twin Cities Drupal community whether you're new, a core contributor to the Drupal project or somewhere in between. Register for the group to get posting privileges and to be notified of what's going on.
Looking to connect with other local friendly Drupal people? Check out the Events tab for a rundown of our regular meetups and other upcoming Drupal-related events.
You can also join your Drupal peers and mentors in a couple of places:
- Slack tends to be more active these days. Join https://tcdrupal.slack.com. If you need an invite go here to get an automatic invite to the Slack team
- IRC -- #drupal-twin-cities on irc.freenode.net -- to ask questions, propose ideas, socialize. Check out Drupal.org for more info about IRC and Drupal including how to create a new account and connect. Or come to the next local meetup and someone will help you get started.
Drupal Group - Views Theming Presentation
At the next Drupal Group meeting, I will be discussing what I have learned so far about theming a view using the template.php file. I will explain how I was able to create a nice little table, and how I could not only control the formatting, but also where and when the data is displayed.

A group of us are trying to get together a regular meetup for technology for nonprofits in the Twin Cities. At the moment we're just kicking around ideas for planning this. It might be under the guise of a Netsquared meetup, or something else. If you're interested in helping to plan such a group, please contact me.

I promised to post the example files from the CSS demonstration last month, and promptly forgot all about it. Late's better than never, right?
I'm not allowed to attach zip files to this post, so I'll keep this link active for a couple weeks.

Read moreA Sub-Group?
I am wondering if there other people in the Twin-Cities using Drupal, that would want to create sub-group for development of Drupal or more advanced topics for Drupal.
I really like the group we have going here. I think the range of Drupal expertise is a huge benefit, but I also feel like it is limiting at the same time. The difference between beginner CSS and writing Drupal Modules is huge.
My idea has spawned from this post (http://drupal.org/node/160239) and what others have said about other Drupal Users Groups.
Read moreCSS Overview and Drupal Q&A
It's not that CSS is such a simple topic that it will only take 30 minutes to cover in depth - It's that there's so much to cover that I'm not sure how to tackle it without rambling from subject to subject. I'll talk about critically important concepts like specificity, inheritance and the box model and such, but after that, what's the best use of our time? Any suggestions on how to focus this discussion would be appreciated.
If I understood correctly, for the rest of the session we'll attempt to tangibly tackle user's Drupal questions by starting with a fresh, local installation.

Hello,
I wanted to announce a new module, just released today: Node Cloud. If you're familiar with tag clouds this module should look pretty familiar: it themes the output of a view like a tag cloud.
The primary ordering of the view is from the first sort. The sizing of each item is based on the second sort order. This makes the plugin very versatile for making clouds of popular content, highly rated content (say with the voting api), highly commented content, etc.

Hey everyone. I have agreed to give a Theming Demo at the next Twin Cities Drupal User Group. The problem is that I do not own a laptop. So if someone could possibly help me out here, that would be great. Preferably I would like:
Laptop with a local webserver and a fresh install of Drupal. A simple, but good text editor, and Firefox.
OR I can set up my own fresh install of Drupal and use someone's laptop for the demo. I would need a good ftp client, good text editor, and Firefox.
Any takers? Thanks ahead of time.

I would like to make to this meetings specially since I am planning to visit my drupaleros friend in BCN this September. Unfortunately, I cannot make the time and the dates of these meetings. Is it possible to change the date and time? The time is not really that bad is just the week day.
thnx!

It looks like I volunteered to give a demo on creating a Drupal theme from scratch. Here are some initial things I have in my head:
Assumptions
I will assume you understand the basics of HTML and CSS. Here is a good place to start: http://www.w3.org/Style/Examples/011/firstcss
I will also assume you do not know PHP but can understand it's basic usage in web development. http://www.php.net

Seeking Drupal Help
Hi,
I'm a web developer in the Twin Cities, and I'm relatively new to Drupal. I have used some other CMS and blogging systems, but I am about to start a new project in Drupal, and I am looking for someone who can guide me a little bit. Mostly, I'll probably just be asking about the best way to do things, and get some help if I run into trouble. Are there any Drupalers out there who would be willing to give me a hand? I would greatly appreciate it. I can pay by the hour, also.
Thanks,
-L.K.

Drupal Powered Sites - Show and Tell
This month's presentation will be a large presentation broken down into smaller sessions. We will have Show-and-Tell sessions highlighting REAL sites we have developed with Drupal.
Please prepare one case study to share with the group. We will post these case-studies, so the first people to commit get the pick of the litter! Add your session as a comment. Remember, many hands make light work!

Extending Drupal with the Dojo Toolkit module
I'll be showing off the brand new Dojo Module that super-charges your Drupal website. The Dojo Toolkit is an open source, Javascript toolkit that does virtually everything from Ajax to widgets. I'll introduce the Dojo Toolkit, how to configure the module, how Dojo enhances Drupal, and most importantly, how to use Dojo in your own content, modules, & themes.
The presentation will be fairly fast paced and contain a lot of information, so be ready! :)

We've all seen great Drupal-powered community membership sites, but how do you actually put one together?
At this month's TC Drupal meeting, we'll eat our own dog food and put together a site of our own at www.tcdrupal.org. We'll build member profiles, interest groups, and both mass and discussion email solutions. You'll learn how to expand on Drupal's native functionality with new staples such as CCK, Views, OG and Bio.

Looks like I have missed the last couple gatherings. Is anybody planning to have another gathering this month?
I'm new to Drupal and would like to learn more about the framework and business usage. Since we might not have another gathering for a while, I'm willing to buy lunch/coffee if any of the member willing to spend a couple hours with me to answer a few questions. Thanks.
