Now that 'Quebec City - Ville de Québec' has its own Drupal Group, could someone update the 'Montreal & Quebec' Group name to avoid confusion and so that we get some new members too :-).
Merci bien.
-Chris

Comments
Salut Chris
I've changed most of the text. I don't seem to be able to change the Montreal & Quebec title itself. I see it as a field and can change the text, but it remains unchanged on save. Maybe we need to petition some higher authority to move that forward. Any one know?
Many thanks,
Andrew
Titre changé
Andrew: Your edit seems to have a rather important impact because it has changed the group's path. Not sure what to do with that...
Still, I've completed the change by updating the title as well (in the Pages tab).

What? Is it necessary to kill
What? Is it necessary to kill all the old links we had to our group?
2 propositions
Bonjour,
2 propositions :

I cleary wasn't thinking it through
Hello everyone,
Apologies all around as I clearly wasn't thinking about full impact of these changes when I made them. It didn't occur to me that URL would change as a result. In rushing to respect the wishes of the good folks up in Québec City I neglected to take into consideration the effect that these changes would have on folks outside of Québec City.
I'd like to set things right ASAP. Is the best way to do that reverting the URL, title and descriptive text and adding a blurb about the Québec City group as Chris suggests?
Andrew
IMO, we should...
... put it back the way it was (in order to preserve incoming links) with a note in the description pointing to the Quebec City group.
Omar
Should we perhaps alter the
Should we perhaps alter the intro text slightly to make it clear that we're referring to Quebec as a province and not as a city?
Path still wrong
Hi Andrew,
I don't see where the group's path can be edited, but it is still wrong. It used to be http://groups.drupal.org/montreal-quebec, but now it is http://groups.drupal.org/montreal-amp-quebec. Are you able to correct it?
Thanks,
David.

Not entirely sure how
Hi David,
It's not entirely clear to me how the path got changed to begin with or how to go about changing it now. The only thing I've changed that I would expect to have affected it is the 'Group Title' under node/558/edit. However, it's value is currently set to 'Montréal Québec' and I don't see a change reflected in the URL. Perhaps we need to wait for cron to run for a change to take hold?
If anyone else has insight in how to set this straight, it would be much appreciated.
I've altered the English
I've altered the English text to reflect the suggestions above. Could someone with stronger translation skills please alter the French accordingly?
Group name fix
Try removing the accents in the group name and putting the ampersand inbetween. Sorry this request created such a mess - thank for trying. Maybe you should contact the groups administrator?
Better name
Shouldn't we name it "Montreal, Quebec" instead of "Montreal & Quebec"? If the path gets updated from that name, I think it will revert to the original path ("montreal-quebec").

Puisqu'il y a probablement
Puisqu'il y a probablement "transliteration" dans les pathauto, je suppose qu'effectivement la proposition de David tient la route et solutionnerait tous les besoins...

I'm not adverse to it. As Chris suggests, it will likely solve the URL problem. "Montreal, Quebec" does, however have a different connotation than "Montreal & Quebec". It suggests that the group is Montreal-specific and doesn't have a provincial scope. Is that a concern?
This group feels Montréal-centric
I think that people from outside Montréal, although they are always welcome, will never feel that they really belong to the group because the content tends to be local. Also, the fact that there are so many discussions in English probably does not help people from the rest of Québec to relate to the group.

Changed again
I've altered the title to read 'Montreal, Quebec', but don't yet see a change reflected in the path.
Simpler name
Why not just Montreal or Montreal QC ?
Being. Knowing. Sharing. Ip Man

I've contacted an admin
I've contacted an admin and requested that the path be reverted to montreal-quebec. They are apparently willing to create redirects or aliases to accommodate other paths and I've suggested that /montreal and /montreal-amp-quebec be added to ensure that no one suffers with any broken links when all is said and done.
Does that sit well with everyone?
Sounds perfect!

This has been sorted
I've heard back from the admin. The path has been changed and redirects or aliases have been put in place.
Could someone update the French text to match the English?
